Monaco Grand Prix 2012, Monte Carlo - Race 6/20

Ah back to the points, which tells another story, like the messed up stops for Lewis, the wrong fuel going in the car, but if you think the points show Jenson to be qualifying and racing better than Lewis then so be it :)

Where did I say that? You said he was being 'dominated' and I simply replied showing otherwise going by what counts.. you know.. championship points. Both drivers have had loads of points taken away that should have been theirs for the last few seasons, so it works both ways. Lewis is clearing beating Button so far this season, but you seem to want to make much more of it?

This is not proof of anything, this is just writing down numbers. Do some ANOVA on it to see if the difference is actually significant, the gaps are only marginally different.

Jesus, F1 is serious business!

Can we leave the ANOVA to Infostrada? Seeing as all of my results were based on the same calculation I think they can be compared to each other for this little test.

I have also said that in isolation these numbers are pretty meaningless, and need to be taken in conjunction with all the other methods of measurement like WDC points etc.

It was supposed to be a bit of fun!

It was obviously my fault for usiing the word 'proof'. I swear if all the people on this forum were as pededantic in real life as they are online we would see a lot more 'just got punched in the face' threads in GD. :D

still not understanding why people think points scored is a good way to compare 2 drivers in the same car ahead of the actual laptimes, never seen that sort of comparison in any F1 forum before until now :D

I guess if Massa won today and Alonso DNF's then that would mean Felipe is driving just great this season, oh wait....

We need a.. My driver is better than yours bickering thread even tho we will never agree.. Thread!

I'm looking forward to this race more than usual. Think some peeps are gonna loose their temper on this one.

Also.. Yay maldanaldo at the back. Don't like the guy

Can someone confirm, does the race start at 1 or the coverage start at one? Don't want to get to the bar and have to sit for an hour listening to Eddie Jordan.

Jesus, F1 is serious business!

And don't you forget that!!! :p

One thing that this F1 forum lacks is the trash talk. In pretty much all sports you get some fans saying that my team (or man) is going to beat your team (or man). And this could be when the worst man/team is playing the best man/team in the World. We just don't get that here, due to the seriousness of it all.

It's best that if someone is taking things very seriously or personally - just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Even in football threads, a lowly team like Wigan, might be playing Man City, yet Wigan supporters will still say that Wigan will be Man City (if only for a laugh).

I remember there was die-hard Ferrari fan in here, called Emlyn Dyer (I think) and I liked his conviction and belief in his team last year. Their car was poor, yet he stuck by them and every race would say that Ferrari were going to do something great. I wish he would come on now, because his team finally have a car which can win races. Today, Alonso has no excuse. I believe he may have the one of the best race cars on the track (at Monaco, at least).

I would agree with this - for both drivers and fans.
Many toys will be thrown around today and over the next few days, I think.

Anyone else seen the GP3 crash with Conor Daly from yesterday. Nearly flew over the catch fence. All I can say is

Rumour in Monaco is that Vettel has signed a pre-contract with Ferrari for 2014 :D

No way!!!

Do you have any links to articles about this as it doesnt sound right.

Normally agreements are not made so far in advance. The only one which comes to mind is when Prost signed for Williams in late 91/early 92, to drive in 1993.

I am dubious, because Ferrari already have Alonso. Why would they need a 2nd No.1 driver?

That was an unbelievable crash. As the commentator said - if he was driving a little faster, he may have gone over the crash fence. And if you look carefully, there were people standing only a few metres away from where he made contact with the fence.

what on EARTH was the car doing with no rear wing already? Weaving and blocking everyone trying to overtake him... The guy should be banned!

Having watched it in slow mo, I can't believe the marshal didn't flinch!

Absolutely over the moon with the quali result yesterday, Michael now has the perfect opportunity to finish on the podium at last.

Have to say that I was extremely pleased to see Massa showing some true pace and really want him to get a good result, had written him off after the last result (as mentioned in the previous race's thread).

Am hoping for a great race and not the borefest that Monaco can sometimes be.
