Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Not really? Mercedes are so far ahead no team has any hope at all in catching them, in fact I would say they are the best source of a valuable opinion.

Haha. So your saying every other team has given up and is just wishing Mercedes all the best?

Petulant child? I think he's actually being very grown up about it. He's not blasting Rosberg in interviews. He's keeping calm and focusing on what he needs to do.

Bear in mind at this point he's not spoken to the team or Rosberg directly, not has he seen any telemetry from the cars to know whether or not it was done on purpose.

You saw calm? I saw a very focussed attempt at containing rage.

Rosberg is apparently under investigation by the stewards.

[edit]

Yup. Under investigation for running off track on final lap in qualifying, bringing out yellows.

So let me get this straight, when Webber chucks his toys out of the pram and starts being a big baby its great and he is a 'lad' but when Lewis does it, he is a pretulant child and "broken".

pft

The difference is when Webber throws his toys out the pram he drives like a man possessed. When Lewis does it he.. we'll... does a 2011.

I'll hold my hands up and admit I honestly hadn't realised he'd reversed back out of the escape road.

That's disgraceful! The debate about whether his lockup was deliberate is moot - he should have then driven to the end of the escape road and stayed there until the session was over and all cars had passed before backing out, thus reducing the time the yellows were on as much as possible.

Rosberg claiming he didn't know and though the session was over is pathetic in the extreme. All smack of psychological warfare to me, especially in view of Lewis' comments the other day about their relative up-bringings, which I did think were somewhat out of order.

Focused attempt to contain rage, or another way to describe it, not showing rage is "throwing his toys out of the pram" how exactly?

Being angry at his team mate sabotaging him is something unique to Hamilton and not saying anything nor reacting badly is throwing his toys out of the pram?

As above also Webber would hilariously slam his glass of water down on a table, what did Hamilton do, refuse to talk, no, refuse to be interviewed, no, go and sarcastically pat Rosberg on the back, no.

Haha. So your saying every other team has given up and is just wishing Mercedes all the best?

As far as the constructors championship goes absolutely they have given up... Redbull have an outside shot at drivers championship, but incredibly unlikely.

For the teams just behind like Ferrari etc it's beneficial that Mercedes keep winning so other teams don't snatch mega points from first place and make big leaps up the tables.

He's sulking. Otherwise he'd be congratulating Roberg for beating him in the first round of laps and looking forward to the race. He's not, he's going for the muted option and not really talking about anything else.

Come on, he's clearly sulking.

I'm a huge Hamilton fan but he doesn't deal with this sort of thing well.

Wonder how everyone who is having a pop at Hamilton would feel if it was Hamilton who did what Rosberg did?? and i also wonder how Rosberg would feel if Hamilton had done that...would he be calm and just let it be or would he be like Hamilton silently raging about how he ruined his last lap.

If its proven that Rosberg did it on purpose then shame on him.

[already posted] Rosberg is under investigation for running off track, but that's expected after 2006. If what Nico says is true (that the data will show little different), then it's not going to be hard to argue it was a genuine mistake.

Hamilton's attitude in a few hours will be interesting, as he'll have a chance to look at the data himself and his reaction to that will be key.

Tbh, all this has masked a great qualifying by Kvyat. I am having to retract my cruel words about him being a tallentless pay driver. He is showing real talent.

Like Brundle says the thing which would make you believe it was a genuine mistake is that Rosberg has never had form for such behaviour.

On the other hand he knows he needs to gain the upper hand back from Hamilton after losing the last 4 races. What better way to do it than planting the seeds of doubt in Hamiltons mind with things like this knowing that he can be a bit mentally fragile?
