Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Like Brundle says the thing which would make you believe it was a genuine mistake is that Rosberg has never had form for such behaviour.

This is a bit of a moot point no? He's never been in a championship winning car before so has never been put in this type of situation.

On the other hand he knows he needs to gain the upper hand back from Hamilton after losing the last 4 races. What better way to do it than planting the seeds of doubt in Hamiltons mind with things like this knowing that he can be a bit mentally fragile?

Sums it up for me - genuine mistake or otherwise, he's got under Hamilton's skin and Hamilton really hasn't got good form when that happens.

It's a key couple of races now. Hamilton either needs to win here or Montreal (one of his strongest tracks) to potentially get his head straight if this drags on. Turn one tomorrow might be fun.

Lewis done well. Smile but look mean.

...and then drive into a wall/barrier/other racer. Regardless of how Lewis vocalises being upset, we all know how it affects his driving. The red mist is enough to destroy his whole year, we have seen it before.

As soon as Rosberg twigs this, he just needs to keep turning the screw and the WDC will be his.

Aaaaand... the whole discussion point is now void. They have got Flavios opinion, meaning the whole thing is now just a farcicle pantomime.

I mean, what does Flav know about cheating?

Oh, wait... TC, LC, deliberate collisions, planned accidents. Never mind. Forget I mentioned it. :D

Tbh, all this has masked a great qualifying by Kvyat. I am having to retract my cruel words about him being a tallentless pay driver. He is showing real talent.

Kvyat also says he had to back off and that the rules are 'a bit cheeky'

Yep, my biggest worry now is that Hamilton is going to try and win it on the first lap (as he is prone to doing) and ends up taking himself and Rosberg out into the first corner.

Maybe we will continue to see the progression of the new, mature Hamilton and he will take tomorrow in his stride, but if he starts reverting to the Hamilton of old it's unlikely to end well.

People don't cheat with nothing to win, that is the thing. When beating your team mate means a huge chance at race win you have a lot more to gain than if say 2 years ago qualifying 8th you caused qualifying to stop maybe saving you one position.

He's never been in this position before so no one can say he hasn't shown he might do this before.

Simple fact is there was 1:30 of drivers coming through on qualifying laps and he reversed back towards a track in an unsafe way, that is nuts to do full stop as someone else could come along and screw up braking. Anyone with any sense would have done their best to tuck their car as far out of the way as possible, you see on the Hamilton camera that Rosberg is right on the edge of the track when he came past.

Regardless of opinion on the incident there is no doubt that it has made the first lap tomorrow the most interesting of the season. I can't wait! :D

Lewis hasn't turned up for Mercedes post session debrief...

Ted reckons Hamilton hasn't even turned up for the team debrief. Of course he's not letting this get to him...

Who has said it's not getting to him, no one.

A few of us questioned the absurd opinion that Lewis was "throwing his toys out of his pram".... by being calm and not reacting on camera. Who claimed it didn't get to him and why on earth shouldn't it get to him?

Don't think Rosberg did that on purpose, but was a real shame. Hamilton had a good chance of taking pole on that final lap. Was a little pathetic seeing Rosberg celebrate what was a hollow pole and a real let down for the end of quali.

All of which he denied :p.

Flavios opinion being taken seriously on anything automatically makes the whole situation a joke. The fact he's even allowed into an F1 event, let alone on TV is a joke in itself.

Touch hollow, but everyone set a lap time. The only guys at a disadvantage were those who'd used a scrubbed rubber for their first run who were behind him on the road.
