Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Yup, all about big brands, **** all to do with racing as these statements show.

"Yea of course we let them race..."

To be fair at no point at Mercedes send out a direct instruction to tell their drivers to not race this year. RBR used to from lap 1 and it sucked.

The good thing is were now at a stage where even if Merc tried, neither driver will listen :p.

One thing does look certain, its not going to be a boring race up front!

The most concerning thing about that whole Barcelona incident, is that F1 teams appear to be making cars that can go faster than they are, and then are just asking the drivers not to turn them up?

Urgh... What the heck?! What do they expect!

"Hi Lewis. Yeah this button here makes you go super fast, but please never press it"

"Ok boss!"

Yep, stupid. As I said earlier.

Does anyone know if Anthony Hamilton is attending the races this year btw? Just curious. Haven't seen him at all so far this season which I'm a bit surprised at, are they both getting on still?

You don't listen to what people say then you won't know.
And you trying wind people up is just silly. Grow up.

Why didn't Nico turn up his engine in Barcelona?

Sorry, but that doesn't wash with me. If you are Nico's engineer and you know Lewis is pushing the limits of the car, you'd tell your driver to do the same if you REALLY wanted to win.

Lewis needs to play the long game and dump the Ricky Bobby mentality.

Rosberg has won 2 races this season. 1 when his team mate retired and one where it's near impossible to overtake and pole is everything. He got on pole through a mistake that ruined the rest of q3s laps for everyone else.

In normal race conditions at a race track he has not beaten Hamilton.

And don't forget for the last 4 races Rosberg has had a face like thunder and moans about coming 2nd to Hamilton.

Rosberg is no different to Hamilton.

Look at all the race win team photos. This year be it ham or ros, if they win they are cheering, if they are second they wear a fake smile.

2 weeks ago this forum was all cheering for Hamilton. Now it has turned because he wasn't happy he didn't win like any other top driver would.

Not much has been said of vettels outburst against his team when he got called into the pits today.

For me, the difference here is that Rosberg has mostly seemed angry with himself (the main exception being one of his radio messages at Bahrain after Hamilton had left him no choice but to go off-track). He's always acknowledged that he needs to do a better job, I don't see anything wrong with that.

I was initially a bit annoyed by this, but I think what he said straight afterwards was genuinely meant, and he's coming to accept that the team aren't just having a laugh whilst he struggles with the car issues. It might be a turning point in terms of his attitude this season, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's more than a one-off.

What? Vettel reeled himself in and realised that the team were doing the best they could. Hamilton acted like a child, and always has whenever he doesn't get his own way. He's a quick and good driver, but blames everyone else but himself.

The Hamilton fanboyism on here sometimes is hilarious.

I don't know what we should read into Vettels comment. That the team are trying their best, but haven't yet got on top of things with the car, or that the team are doing the best they can but the Renault engine is letting them down?

Considering the problems all the Renault teams are having I imagine Vettel is annoyed at Renault more than RBR? Clearly if they had a Mercedes engine they would be fighting Lewis and Nico.

Exactly. Anyway vettel was frustrated today obviously. He did well to put a lid on it before saying anything stupid though hence the reason he didn't get any flack for it.

I love the rivalry at Mercedes. I've not seen a good inter team scrap for ages. Both Nico and Lewis will try everything to win. Lewis with the Engine mode in Spain and now Nico with the quali situation at Monoco.

The throwing dummies out of the pram is just half the entertainment. Lewis wears his heart on his sleeve so emotions will be more obvious and Nico will just take a leaf out of Schumackers and Vettel's book and will be more ruthless.

I've never liked Monoco but appreciate the challenge it offers.

Hell yeah. I do hope Hamilton comes out on top though, I don't think he's the nicest guy on the track and I'd probably think he was a dick IRL but I like his driving style. Besides, we've had enough German's winning recently :)

I didn't ask for a self portrait, just clarification :)

Mercedes Formula 1 team-mates Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton's relationship was at breaking point even before the Monaco Grand Prix, due to a bust-up in Spain a fortnight ago.

Although the breakdown in the team-mates' relations was made public in the wake of Rosberg's controversial pole position in Monte Carlo, the pair had already fallen out after the race at Barcelona.

That was when it emerged that, in a bid to keep his lead, Hamilton went against team protocol and turned up his engine settings to maximum performance in the closing stages.

His actions left Rosberg feeling that he had been robbed of a chance of victory through unfair means - which forced an apology from Hamilton.

It was against that backdrop that tensions surfaced in Monaco, which is why team boss Toto Wolff is not surprised that Hamilton felt so angry after the qualifying controversy.

...

All I can say is .. Karmas a beeetch ! :)

Nico did the same in Bahrain

Had to laugh at Lewis on the BBC saying he just wants a fair fight when it turns out he used a sneaky engine map in Spain to keep ahead of Nico, fair as long as it's you benefiting I guess then Lewis....
