Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

^ :D

"The team is the priority and that's what we have to keep in front. That's what I kept my priority, the team. We want to get the points for the team. I didn't do anything silly, just looked after the car."

Yep every time he talks you just know all he really cares about is the team and not team Hamilton :D

He will still blitz the title and rightly so but part of me wants him to have a couple of DNF's while rosberg wins just to watch the fallout for the laughs.

A couple of DNFs while Rosberg wins will gift the title to Rosberg. Under normal circumstances (1-2 finishes) there will only be 7 points between them. 2 DNFs would need 7 race wins from Hamilton to catch up.

Yup, DNF in that final race and boom, ridiculous.

it's effectively 4 races to make up for the first DNF, and 7 races wins(vs seconds) to make up the potential 50 point gap in the final race.

Sutil, Maldonado, Massa.... just listing some of the names of drivers who might like a swipe at Hamilton in the final race if he's less than 50 points ahead of Rosberg for the final race :p

Alonso is actually pretty complimentary about Hamilton most times he speaks about him so don't think he'd even consider it. I think top drivers don't get on in teams but when not on the same team(ever or any more in this case) then the respect for the quality is fairly evident in the way they talk about each other.

One positive way of looking at it though is that if Rosberg has 1 or 2 DNF's in races that Lewis wins, Lewis will run away with it.

The only trouble with that is, is that at some point Lewis has really upset lady luck and she loves kicking him in the teeth on many an occasion.

It looks like Rosberg may have lady luck on his side this season (she seems to have abandoned Vettel at last, thank god).

Yea, utterly completely stupid, yes, I realise the race is live and already won, but they put the *** Fully star your swear words...*** - Will Gill results right in the front page BEFORE their own bloody highlight show is aired.

Ah the old OCuk swearing rule, about as consistent in motors as the FIA :D

Hulk's overtakes show just how good he is. Would love him in a top car.

I know it's only a game but I saw him on a Simulator at Codie's HQ on F1 2012 or something around the USA track.

He just looked absolutely monstrous on it, and I thought there and then that I was looking at a future world champ.

Baring in mind he's one of the heaviest drivers on the grid as well, if not the heaviest? Impressive.

His move on KM before the tunnel was brilliant too - great spatial awareness from KM too though.

Also, if you want to know the results its one click away, its NOT needed to be slapped in the front of the BBC page.

This is why I have the iPlayer page bookmarked, can just go straight there bypassing front page. Also avoid reading the description

Watch this:

Mark Webber was challenged to drive Grand Prix Legends sim at an event years ago (I'm thinking just after he came into F1) around the old Monza. Keeping in mind GPL is easily the most difficult racing sim to pick up and master, as he would say he monstered it, nearly going "negative" (beating the benchmark around a track).

In reverse Greger Huttu, widely regarded as the greatest sim driver the planet has seen, won a chance to drive a Formula Mazda car around Road Atlanta by winning an iRacing title. Given Huttu wasn't even remotely fit, his neck went immediately and he was physically ill in the car (another thing he and Webber share then), in the few laps he did hel set a time around 1.5 seconds off the testing pace. His team was pretty staggered.

While true simulations (so Forza and GT are automatically excluded) aren't an absolute given in terms of true racing talent, there are certainly many crossovers - the primary differentiating factors being the commitment to a staggering level of fitness, conquering the fear factor and a level of mechanical knowhow to provide feedback I guess.

Pure wishful thinking :p

But with Kimi underwhelming, if you were a Ferrari boss who would you choose?

If the season continues to pan out as it is, Vettel. The longer Ricciardo has the better of him, the less likely I see Vettel wanting to stay at Red Bull. Don't get me wrong, as much as I'm not a Vettel fan, I don't think Ricciardo is the stunning Vettel-thrasher he's coming across as. Either Ricciardo is the best driver to have sat in a car, or Red Bull were hampering Webber massively, and as cynical a sport as F1 is, it's not that corrupt. Webber was a good driver, but for whatever reason Vettel just hasn't settled in 2014, be it the new torque or the family he now has.

That said, Alonso wants a better car. Vettel will soon want a fresh environment. Ferrari needs a star driver. As good as Monaco looked until that 2nd safety car and Chilton, Raikkonen needs to up his game.

It wouldn't be entirely stupid to stick a few quid on 2015 starting with Alonso at Red Bull and Vettel and Bianchi heading up Ferrari. I'd certainly be willing to stump up on 2016 starting that way.

I suppose when you've alienated the very team members trying to help you win and want to move again there's only one team left for you. McLaren won't pick you again and as long as they provide the best car Red Bull can have their choice of drivers, so realistically you're left clutching at straws for your next drive in a couple of years time? Best go for Ferrari as they're usually in the top 10.
