Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

"Caterham team principal Tony Fernandes is reportedly seeking to sell his Caterham Group, including the group’s F1 outfit"

Maybe Hass will buy it?
Guess Fernandes needs all the money he can get to keep QPR in the premier league next season. Well that and the giant fine QPR are going to get for spending way above their means!

Frankly Caterham has just been 1 giant money sink who are no nearer being competitive now than they were when they joined!

Marussia getting some points this race probably means they're destined for 11th in the constructors barring a freak race.

Never gonna get 350 million for it though. Not even sure they'll get a buyer tbh as imagine you could get Lotus or Sauber if you were that keen on buying a team why bother buying the tail end Charlies?

Had to laugh at Lewis on the BBC saying he just wants a fair fight when it turns out he used a sneaky engine map in Spain to keep ahead of Nico, fair as long as it's you benefiting I guess then Lewis....

At least Hamilton apologised for the engine map. Rosberg didn't apologise for his sneaky quali move.

It's not just an F1 team, there's the car company in there as well. Not sure what Fernandes paid for it mind.

I guess this one is going to run and run. I don't think Rosberg did a "sneaky qualy move" on purpose. If anything it's a psychological victory judging by the copious throwing of toys out of the Hamilton pram.

Fernandes isn't just selling the F1 team, he's selling the whole Caterham group, which is a major worry.

The last time someone bought up a small British car maker, threw them at motorsport in a big way, created massive expansion plans for the road car arm, and then dropped them and left them in the cold was Group Lotus, and there pretty much screwed.

I couldn't really care less about the F1 team being sold, but Caterham Cars and their new technology arm have had a lot if big plans made. Selling them to someone who isn't willing to pursue the road they are heading down could leave them in ruin. The last thing we want is Caterham Cars to go bust.

The F1 team is only a small part of what Fernandes is selling.

Interesting from Toto:

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has reassured his drivers that their championship battle will be a fair fight after a controversial weekend in Monaco saw tensions flare between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

A mistake by Rosberg in qualifying that resulted in yellow flags and ruined Hamilton's bid for pole sparked the rift between the two and also exposed underlying tensions since the start of the season. The pair are at odds over the qualifying incident and did not speak on the podium after finishing one-two, with Hamilton saying he just wants a clean fight.

"I think that goes the same for both sides of the garage. We want a fair fight," Hamilton said after the race.

Asked if he had cleared the air with Rosberg, he added: "We've sat down and cleared whatever air was needed to be cleared. We've been through the data and seen what needed to be seen. I wish you guys could see it. Otherwise, we're good. It was a difficult weekend but what doesn't break you will make you stronger. I can only get stronger for this weekend, I think."

However, Wolff revealed that the tension dates back to the epic battle between the two in Bahrain where Rosberg was using engine modes that Hamilton was not and then Hamilton did the same when the pair were racing in Spain in two weeks ago. Wolff played down the significance of the two incidents, but said it had added to the tension in Monaco and would not be allowed in the future.

"In the last couple of races we had some little fouls left and right, and in the team we made sure this is not happening again," Wolff said. "The most obvious bit is you can play around with the engine modes, so this is not happening ever again.

"Each driver has his own reality and I guess Lewis thought that Nico did it [ran wide at Mirabeau] on purpose yesterday, and Nico said he didn't. He said he was 0.1s down after Turn 3 and the only way of making it up was to push extremely hard, which he did under braking and he ran wide and he apologised to Lewis. Each thinks he's right, but sometimes you have to remind them there is not only black and white but there could be grey as well."

He added: "We tell the drivers they can do whatever they want, as long as it's not underhand."
After his race win, Rosberg played down the rift.

"It's fine," he said. "We've had discussions and the benefit we have is that we've known each other for so long. We always sit down and discuss it and then move on and that's what we're doing this weekend also."

Hamilton said he intended to learn from the experience over recent races.

"I don't know. I'm not entirely sure. It's just competition, that's what we have this weekend. One weekend is one way and one weekend is another and this weekend went a direction I wasn't expecting but it's a good experience. I'm aware of it now and I'll make sure I'm aware of it for the future."

^ (the definiton of sneaky is when hundreds of millions of people are watching you) :D

If you read the autosport article you see here Rosberg used an aggressive engine mode in Bahrain to attack Hamilton so Hamilton returned the favour in Spain. Now Rosberg's antics in Monaco put him one up in terms of bad behaviour (I think he was being a bit sneaky with his escape road antics) .

I watched the race and also BBC live comentary and there was a rather sarcastic comment made by Coulthard when he said that Rosberg has locked up several times at the same corner and amazingly managed to avoid the escape road. I wonder why it was so hard to so in Qualifying. One thing for sure I am enjoying this season a lot more than I thought I would.

Don't know the facts but apparently Rosberg did the same thing in Bahrain ;) still couldn't over take Hamilton though

Argh! BBC iPlayer is ridiculous! I avoid the F1 result all night in the hope of catching highlights on Monday, and then the BBC put the result in the highlights description!

Yea, utterly completely stupid, yes, I realise the race is live and already won, but they put the *** Fully star your swear words...*** - Will Gill results right in the front page BEFORE their own bloody highlight show is aired.

Also, if you want to know the results its one click away, its NOT needed to be slapped in the front of the BBC page.

Will just leave this here.

Monaco was pretty boring like normal, Hulk made some nice overtakes though. Not buying into this cheating rubbish people are spouting. Same old when its a British sportsman :p
