Just watching the last part. This is an embarrassment to F1 that Alonso can go so slow. God this track is gash.

Why is it an embarrassment that Alonso can go so slowly but not that Dani did to win the race previously, or that all of the top did in one of the races a few years ago.

Drive really, really slowly to keep Hamilton behind him resulting in keeping Ocon from gapping the drivers behind him (Ocon was behind Hamilton) so the 5s drop Ocon got for hitting Hamilton earlier in the race dropped Ocon out of the points.

Also gave Norris space to pit and take the FL.

When Lewis questioned it on the radio, Mercedes said Alonso had been told to by the team.

Yikes - is deliberately driving off the pace not a penalizable offense? I can't help but think that Alonso just does whatever he can to stick it to Hamilton.
What difference did it really make? Hamilton would have finished one position higher if Alonso just yielded, as he wouldn't have been able to pass Norris either. Why would he give up the place?
It's funny that some here are complaining about it. Slow driving had no affect on the actual race outcome, but did expose Monaco for what it is. A pile of ****.

Ocon wasn't setting this track on fire. He was going to lose his points position anyway.

I enjoyed it.
Watched the highlights which always makes it more interesting

Found alonso annoying Hamilton amusing.
Really glad perez got the win.
Ferrari up to thier old tricks on bad strategy, feel for leclerc

Perez would be even closer had it not been for team orders!

I must say I thought verstappen would get a penalty. Looked like he crossed the line to me.

Oh, terrible race directing.
Slow red flag. It was obviously a red flag when mick crashed!
Terrible start too. But i didn't have to sit through it.

So which unlucky safety car/act of God caused Lewis to finish behind Russell this time?

Well, his final run in qualifying was wrecked by Perez's crash, and then Merc totally ***** his race by pitting him too early for intermediates. He gained about 5 seconds, then got stuck behind Ocon, completely nullifying any advantage the inters gave.

Merc should have kept him out on wets like they did with Russell and then just pitted them both for slicks.putting inters on just for him to get stuck behind Ocon was silly.

I mean maybe they thought the Alpines would pit but they shouldn't have risked that.

Then to top it off, Alonso starts playing silly ****** with him.

As much as it pains me to say (as I dislike Red Bull/Marko/Horner) , they have the best strategy and decision making by far.

Merc and Ferrari drop the ball far too much. They are slow to react, or pull bizarre moves that make no sense a lot of the time.

Ferrari and Merc (at least for Hamilton) were really poor strategy wise yesterday.

Lewis was screwed by Ocon's bad driving. If he hadn't hit Lewis and broken his wing it'd have worked out much better.

That said, Wets->Drys did seem optimal, although Gasly made inters work well.

Yeah, I remember that. Did it really happen though? If so, what was Alpine thinking?

Alonso was definitely playing silly ******

He's always been a bit of a **** though.

Yeh bit Gasly went onto inters much earlier. There was no point pitting Lewis with the risk that any tyre advantage gets completely nullified by Ocon.

There was just hardly any benefit to it.

This race certainly had some dramas, and I found it pretty exciting. I was confused by the delayed start, but apparently that was an electrical issue at the circuit.
Alonso vs Hamilton just proves how bad this place is for over-taking. I won't miss it if they don't sign a new deal, I'd rather see a proper race track.
