Cancel the 'Merc is back' party, car looks proper trash here again.

Rain tomorrow might make it interesting though. Hamilton in the wet is never something to discount!

Always raise a little smile when 2 drivers set identical times, quite amazing really.

Interesting what Ted just said RE mclaren taking some of the blame for Ricciardo's crash yday with setup

Apart from the history and romance of Monaco it really doesn’t hold much in term of racing for the fan Anymore. Maybe a few overtakes coming out of the Tunnel into Nouvelle but other than that the cars are now just to wide for serious racing .

Barring any mechanicals the race will be won in qualifying.

I would hazard a guess that the Formula One Group will seriously be looking at the financial viability of Monaco , can’t be much more than a break even weekend or even a loss .

It won't be going anywhere

To be fair it was a very weird crash, the way it snapped. Slowing down the replay on Youtube shows just how much stress was on the rear tyres before he hit the wall - they were trying to fold in on themselves, coming away from the rim.

A bit like some of the old tyres at Indianapolis (hello Michelin). I used to have a close-up photo of a car (Barrichello on Bridgestones I think) showing it beautifully, but I can't seem to find it now.

Just a note for anyone intending to watch F2 that I've edited the times of the F2 sprint race, which starts at 16:35 today, after F1 qualifying.

A bit of a brain fart on my part converting the times from 12 hour to 24 hour.

Can't get a deal to continue racing in Monaco? Fantastic. Leave this place behind. We've got The Monaco Historique, don't need to run modern cars around here. Give it's slot to Kyalami, Hockenheim, Estoril....

I would have thought there's too much money in Monaco for them to leave it though. All that elite living there.

Yeah TBH I don't think drivers will like it either
If it is off the calendar I'll eat my words but I think it really isn't going anywhere
