Alright guys, i have just driven a mk1 facelift focus, my god its amazing, the drive was soo nice, and the 1.6 zetec engine just cruised along the road, wasn't underpowered or nothing, when i pass my test i will be asking my dad if he still has the escort may i have a quick drive in it, if its nice ride i shall buy that off him.

The Focus was a revolution over the Escort. The Escort is nothing like the Focus, it is a terrible car and its replacement couldnt come soon enough. Much of the reason why the Focus was not simply the Escort Mk7 was becuase Ford wanted to get rid of the Escort name and the negative aspects associated with it.

Ford really cocked up the Mk5 Escort and the Mk6 was an emergency fixer upper solution.
The interior of the Mk6 is vastly better than the Mk5 and it drives a lot better, but it's still a hash job really.

Either way escort is out, i wouldn't mind a mk2 golf, but its just finding 1 around my area which is in good nick. any other ideas on cars which are low group insurance?

am think am 2 big for them tho mate.

Saxos/106's are to small for me, am just really tall, and its not nice with ya check pushed up on the roof. :p

the 306's are alright for me, its just finding a decent 1 for about 500ish.

Speaking of this I could barely get in your Mondeo. I'm not sure if it was just the seat position but my head was practically touching the roof if you remember. :D

ye my electric seat height adjust is broken and its in the highest position lol

Personally I'd say get a car you can afford the insurance on in your own name or just don't bother.

You may say you'll go on a policy as named driver and get your own next year, but in a years time you still will have no NCB so will get very little discount, if any.

If you shell out in the first year, you'll get the rewards later on. I payed £1100 on my first year. Now with 3 NCB I'm paying £270 with mods declared.

Can you afford a Focus now?

Just for your reference. When I was 17 I paid £1600 with Direct Line on my Focus fully comp with my own policy. It would have been a fair bit more if I didn't already have one years no claims at 17 from my moped. Now I'm paying around 500-700

I cant afford nothing at the moment, but was thinking about just saving for a few months, i don't actually have a job, so when i have a job maybe month or 2 down the line i can buy a car. If i could buy a focus i would.

any 17 year old friendly insurance company's out there, i can use? :)
