Mondeo's...

Fox, thoughts on the mondy 1400's?

completely underpowered waste of space, or worth it for the much cheap insurance and less likely chance of learner boy killing himself or others ?

They did a 1.4?

The 1.4/1.6 Focus is painful enough.

Dread to think what a 1.4/1.6 Mondy would be like.

Escort is a very poor car.

Indeed but if it costs £100.... it's a car and he's got £400 more to spend on proper insurance.

Foxtrot, I'm sure there wasn't a 1.4 Mondeo . Happy to be proved wrong as ever.

By far the most helpful reply in this thread. Look for w/e suits your basic requirements that is in the best condition and has the longest possible mot.

For the first year you'll be fueled by the novelty of driving, well first few months at least. I'd also recommend getting your own policy, I fronted but don't really find myself in a better position (no I haven't crashed or anything or been found out, just 2ncb would be a lot better than 1 in my position).

Ohh and in the Tom|NBK vs [TW]Fox, Fox wins :p

True, just get whatever you can afford, if you're bulding up your own NCB don't be fussy. I picked up a Megane for 200 quid and it's fine. Ignore the names, look at the pricetag!

tbh i think the late finesse models where alright

just get a nice 1.8 with a half decent spec :)

or if you want a wee bit cheaper insurance and some economy get a 1.8TD :)

only IG 8

They are pretty reliable, the later ones that is.

My mate picked an 98 R plate one for £350. It's a 1.6 and it does it's job without a problem.

As far as I'm aware, there's no such animal.

oh there is, afaik it was some sort of godawful non uk spec POS i had the great mispleasure to come across this rare beasty during my time working for Ford. only ever seen the one though and unusually it was RHD i'll do some digging :)
