For the first year you'll be fueled by the novelty of driving, well first few months at least. I'd also recommend getting your own policy, I fronted but don't really find myself in a better position (no I haven't crashed or anything or been found out, just 2ncb would be a lot better than 1 in my position).

At this price range I think something like an Escort is great. Nice and cheap!

I'm saying it's not the best choice. The engines are rock solid if looked after.
