Mondeo's...

You are looking at phase 1 306's.

15 years old.

Be prepared for stupid electrical issues, suspension problems, brake problems, crumbling interior etc etc etc

I know 306's well. Very well indeed actually.

Old french car = fail.

Unless you are spanner happy :p

Would a 1.4 engine actually be able to move a Mondeo? :p

you would be surprised,

never had the chance to drive it but i'm pretty sure a 1400 mondy would be good for 0-60 in circa 15 seconds and top speed of 05-100 mph :)

Yes but........reps do atleast 115mph-120mph on the motorway on route to meetings etc so thats why I guess it wasn't produced! ;)

oh there is, afaik it was some sort of godawful non uk spec POS i had the great mispleasure to come across this rare beasty during my time working for Ford. only ever seen the one though and unusually it was RHD i'll do some digging :)

Speaking of non-UK spec' Ford oddities:

Came across that in Benidorm a few years ago.

Wow @ that mondeo for £300 , if you could get 12 months MOT thrown in that would be a great first car. I bet you could make the £300 back selling off parts such as the headlights etc, i may be wrong tho :D. I think you would get at least £50 scrap anyway.

It's a erm........Sierra.

It's a facelift 3 door. We never got a facelift 3 door in the UK. Also, in the UK I think that bonnet and grille combination were only used on the Sapphire.

It had facelift front end, facelift tail lights (which are bigger than jelly mould ones, and tinted as well) and facelift bumpers. The 3 door Sierra in the UK was discontinued in 86/87 when Ford dropped the Mk1 jelly mould shape.

I'd agree with this, my dads one has had a load of electrical issues. Also the sun roof leaks and is currently duck taped up.

The dash looks really really dated as well. Other than that it drives well and is pretty nippy for a 1.6.

I was deffinately lucky then, straight diesel and a turbo diesel and both of them were fine (apart from the youngest breaking the windscreen on the first one and some idiot smashing into the second)

Damnit, wanting another 306 now :(

Mondeos are epicly good value. Step brother bought a 2 litre mk1 for £275, yes £275 at a car auction; sailed through it's MOT and he's got trouble free motoring for a year.

For reference; when I'm 17 I'll be paying a full insurance policy in my name, as well as paying for the car, with my own money...
