Most arrogant profession?

Surprised no one has mentioned Recruitment Consultants.

You would think they had a Phd & a job @ NASA by their general state of self importance, attained by filing paperwork & answering telephones.

Yea I bet he did. Love the part where the brand new car he bought elsewhere was in stock with the deal completed that same day. Usually the prestige places are not able to let you take a used car same day let alone a factory order.

Making stuff up for the lose?

I was thinking the same thing, although when we bought my wifes Range Rover the first salesman in the showroom was a bit aloof as i was dressed in a baseball cap and football shirt...

The manager was petfectly polite and respectful however and yes we had an 8 week wait for a new car. Who doesnt?

Salesmen that drives up and down the M6 third lane in his BMW/Audi

Delivery drives/taxis think they own the road because its their place of business, taxi drivers at night that get up your backsides

Nah

Doctor's receptionists.

[rant]
Just about any other customer service role employs young people who are supposed to deal with stress/pressure, multi task and still be polite courteous to customers regardless of whether or not the previous customer they were talking to was a complete ****.

Doctors on the other hand seem to have a habit of employing technically illiterate dinner ladies as receptionists who are seemingly struggle to do anything except at a snails pace and are instantly rude/hostile to people at random for whatever reason. Quite frankly they need to sort their lives out, I don't care even if the previous patient was an abusive smackhead(though not likely where I used to live) it isn't an excuse to take it out on everyone else who then walks through the door, sick and simply turning up for their appointment.[/rant]

Apple Store workers.

You aren't a 'genius'.

To be fair they didn't chose that title and the one's I've encountered have always been very friendly and helpful.

Also, tsk, criticising apple at the moment... the messiah only died a few days ago

Another vote for doctor's receptionists. My favourite was one in a hospital in Salford. I'd gone in with a broken finger. I had managed to break it such that the finger nail was lying against the back of hand (i.e. snapped back completely the wrong way). I get to hospital where you have to go to a receptionist to "book in" (remember this was 15 years ago. Why a receptionist was tasked with this is anyone's guess). I say "Hi. I've broken my finger". The receptionist looks at me like as if I was make entirely of excrement and in the most arrogant voice I have heard to date, says "I'll{/B] be the judge of that." Rather taken aback but amused, I showed her my finger; flopping backwards with the tendons and bloody flesh clearly on display. She went very white and pointed me to the A&E. I laughed (which was quite a feat because my hand hurt like hell). :D

Might well have been a triage nurse rather than receptionist - they do briefly examine whatever you've come in for and prioritise your place in the A&E queue accordingly.

I have to say I'm somewhat bemused by people saying doctor's receptionists - not just in this thread either. Personally I've never had a problem with one, and I've been registered at a lot of different surgeries. With all ladies of a certain age, I find it really helps to smile when you first make eye contact and then act all "little-boy lost" (think Tim Nice-but-Dim as a starting point). I do this with our works receptionist too, who is really nice to me but everyone else hates her.

I'm speaking more from the field I work in, as I've at least got enough experience to make an informed opinion.

Advertising Execs/Producers, specifically those which are from an Ad agency involved in producing TV commercials. So many I've had to deal with are complete arses, and given that usually all they are doing is asking for some tweaks to a commercial for a bottle of water, or a new makeup product, they have an incredibly high sense of self worth.

In complete contrast, the real big shot Producers and Directors I've worked with in Film are generally down to earth and nothing at all like these advertising types.

Most of the people that I've met in the IT Support industry seem fairly solid, however I have met some real arrogant people.

Sales people seem a bit titish.

The one that gets me are retail sales people that think they are above you just because its a high end shop. Can they honestly afford the items either? no, so why be pompous about it!

I remember when I was 21 and buying a sofa, living room furniture etc, I went into one shop and the person looked me up and down and because I looked young and dressed in dirty jeans he took ages to even come and bother helping me and then was quite rude like he didn't have time for me. I went into another store got great service and spent a few grand.

I don't think that Doctors are that arrogant, I mean for amount of training required and the amount of responsibility they have, plus to some extent they have to be firm because they 99% of the time know best when it comes to your health but people don't like to listen so they have to be firm.
