MOT fail thread

It's always a good idea when replacing the brake pads to push the brake hose back into the holder so it doesn't rub on the wheel.
A few more miles and it would have worn through and emptied it's fluid..

This was the other side (and how it should be)..

Clearly this Renault Traffic driver didn't like his passengers.
NSF, NSR & centre..

Not hard to imagine how low this 3 series was sitting on one side, and god knows how the customer hadn't noticed the noise when turning the steering..

Some of the most poorly maintained cars I see are older 3 series, but the indicators always seem to work ok, presumably through lack of use.

How the.... do you do that to a seatbelt.

I'll give you a hint...

Let me guess, the driver argued the toss and said it was fine. I don't think seatbelts should be a fail. If your are stupid enough to not change it they are damaged, you get a Darwin award on the next crash.

That’s fine but what about a passenger which unwittingly gets into the car or a child who doesn’t know any better?

That's putting it politely....
One would think that the belt failing the MOT might just give the impression that a child seat should probably not be used with it.
Although for some reason the DVSA only deems it as a "major" failure rather than a "dangerous" one.

I knew a place that used to do Ghost MOTS, my friend took his Abarth 595 there, the car was so bad, that even the ghost mot guy refused to pass it.

Not in for MOT, but came in for handling issues (car is a W204 Merc).

NSR..

OSR..

And OSR tyre..

Just in case you're not sure what your looking at, those lower suspension arms should be attached to the subframe, but the brackets have corroded away and are just flapping in the wind, leaving the car with the handling characteristics of a knackered shopping trolley.

I mentioned before about some older 3 series being absolute death traps, but I can safely add older C & E class to that list, and almost always driven by very aggressive young people with a poor grasp of English (decipher that as you will).
Obviously, and as usual, the customer was quite happy to drive the car away in that state, and may possibly be delivering your Uber Eats meal to you tonight.
Bon appetit.

Didn’t MB do a recall and free subframe on them? Maybe just the C63.

E9x M3 subframes having the same issue now too
