MOTO GP 2011

Catalunya

Only a few days left until the next race and I'm wondering what Ducati have managed to do with Rossi and Burgess's feedback in the long break since the last race. Could there be a new chassis on the cards and have they managed to do anything to help against the Honda's grunt out of the bends (courtesy of the trick gearbox)?

Hopefully all the riders will be up to fitness as there are so many injuries being carried this year which is highlighted further by the lack of numbers on the grid. I think this weekends race may be one of the first where we see the real performances of a lot of teams and riders.

Yeah I hope Pedrosa is fit for his home GP. I really think the Spaniards come alive in front of a 100,000+ crowd. It's amazing really when you stand next to him, he's such a small fella, almost child like, but is able to tame such an amazing machine.

I think he only weighs something like 7-8 stone which is ridiculous!

With any luck I'll have got down to around 11 stone by the start of next years racing as the extra couple of stone are really not helping acceleration or the squeeze into my leathers! :p

There was some discussion whether certain people who came up from the 250s (at the time) were too light as they may have found it hard to shift weight of the MotoGP 1000cc bikes. I really hope he gets fit but despite having a good bike I'm not sure where to place him if he races (I play fantasy MotoGP).

Pedrosa is very talented and mentally consistent but he doesn't have the stamina due to his size to keep up a fight all race long. If he can get clear early on then I think he will run away with it.

I'm thinking either Lorenzo or Pedrosa (the Spanish home crowd is going to do their motivation wonders) if they can keep a lid on the excitement and not lob it at the scenery. Expect Stone to be lurking waiting to pick up the pieces when (not if) the Spaniards make a mistake.

I'd never do well at MotoGP - I find it hard getting below 15st! :D

What fantasy league are all you guys in? My work colleagues are participating in the same one with me (I'm leading).

My money is also on Lorenzo. Too much to ask, too soon for Pedrosa to win at home. Stoner top 5 but will be lucky to be on podium.

I once suggested many years ago to Toby Moody and Julian Ryder that Moto GP (well, 500's as it was then!) was run on a handicap system, using brolly dollys. Larger lady for a 500cc V4, skinny bird for a 500cc v-twin, somewhere in the middle for a triple...racers must finish the race with them on the back, without using velcro etc. It seemed to go down well...never caught on though...
:D

Is anyone here going to Silverstone next month? If so are you camping?

Yes I will be there and I will also be camping.

This is my 1st event, going with my dad..

also going on the bike, haha so will be laden with luggage! (unless it rains and then I will chicken out and take the car!)

I can't believe the flack that Simoncelli is getting. I doubt that if Rossi had made the same move he would be getting the same treatment. Lorenzo's pass on Dovi was worse and Stacey only got a £5k fine for punching another rider.

Something needs sorting as Moto-GP is turning into a very boring series. WSBK and Moto2 are much more exciting these days.

We need people like Simoncelli.

I think you'll find the riders name is Casey. Did RDP get a fine or a reprimand for riding into the path and then slowing down infront of a rider on a hot lap?

I'm sure you know already but no he didn't, mainly as it was plainly obvious that he was attempting to get out of the way, just ended up deciding on the same bit of track that Stacey chose to go through on...

Sorry (kinda), I had to :p

I do think the Simoncelli thing is getting silly, blown way out of proportion.

No, he didn't get fined. Strange that eh?

He looks over his left shoulder to see Stacey coming on his left, so moves over to the right. This was in Warm-up, not qualifying btw.

I saw that look (checking his rear tyre?) and then RDP swerve into Caseys path. Eitherway, it's sorted now. Apparently officials did speak to RDP so hopefully lessons learned for both riders.

Maybe they could give all the riders a direct 'Stacey Moaning Intercom' so he can let them all know to move out of the way for him. At least it will cut down on the physical attacks.

Can we please move on. Please don't steer this back in to negative waters.

EDIT: Perhaps maybe riders might not swerve into other riders when they are on a hot lap. Whether you're adjusting a brake or checking a rear tyre, please be mindful of the other riders :)
