Is there anything I can do to not need to fill up with fuel so often? Most times the softer tyre will get to 10 laps and most times my fuel wont go above 10 laps... so why would I use the harder tyre?

Your chassis base level affects your fuel consumption. You can only change this at the end of the year (without a dilemma event) by selecting a better engine supplier.

I guess you already know about engine mode in the race, right?

Just done the first two races. P1 & P2, then P2 & P3.

A cars ability is set at the beginning of a season. If its bad for fuel efficiency, you'll have to manage fuel modes more, or run a heavier fuel load. Or do both like McLaren do right now. :)

Thanks, having just finished a season, I see what you're talking about. I spent quite heavy to get longer lasting tyres and better fuel, finished 3rd and 5th in the first race, 3rd place RR made only 2 stops when others made 5 or 6!

Poured reliability all into RRod too, cause El thingy has the half time need for repairs, so used that.

It's very user friendly at the moment, would like the option to go a lot more in depth.

When it comes to designing parts and next years car, I do wish there was more options. Something closer to some of the older GP Manger games. Ability to change height, width and length of parts, that effects efficiency and weight and so on.

I'd also like more developmental options open. Floor, barge boards, side pods, centre of balance, changes of minimum weights in the regs and building a lighter car *and thus more fragile* and then adding ballast in places to change handling.

But I'm a geek...

Maybe in Motorsport Manager 2017. ;) More in depth nerd stuff.

Oh, also signing people for next year when you already have people in contract rather than them replacing immediately.

A cheap chassis and a shed load of money into parts and the HQ is definitely the way to go. Good shout. Also a top notch designer. First season with predator, race 4, race won :)

Also only getting reliability up to 60%.

Best game I have bought in ages and to think I nearly missed this one!

Can I check, when you talk about a cheap chassis, was that the bit at the beginning of the season when you decide on the tyres, fuel etc?

60% reliability is an interesting one. If a part wears to 20% during the race, is it still as effective as one at 60%?

Any part is still as effective as it can be until it breaks. When it gets into the red zone it starts to get a % chance it will break completely. If it has not already broken by the time its gets to zero % then it breaks anyway. So upgrades to reduce the red zone help to reduce the chance of parts breaking when running low. At least I think that's how it works.

RR has been usurped

I'll put it behind spoilers, cos personally i'd rather find them myself and get that enjoyment of uncovering them, even if its no real achievement looking at a list and spotting 4-5 who'd be worth scouting :D

Firstly, if you do reply about something, try and be discrete or also put it in spoilers so if others dont want to know, they dont get it forced upon them simply by reading comments.

Not sure how far down they'll go, im in my first WMC series so unknown whether they'd talk to Asia, certain they wont talk to Euro teams.

Stats alone are very good, on par with Rodrigues, the biggest reason they're worth signing though is the trait 'Pay Driver', they have a sponsor who'll pay £837k/race to drive for you! I managed to get them signed for £497k/race (almost exactly what my current #2 gets), with no bonuses for signing or race/qual, and a 20mo contract. So after terminating my #2 for £3.5m, im essentially paying the same salary to my #2 driver, getting a better driver, and an extra £800k per race.

I'd also just completed T2 scouting and next race paid for T3 to be done, thinking hopefully someone will be worth signing from T2 or T3.. ended up with 1 signed and they're only 2wk into construction :D

had an interview about the removal of a race track, one of the questions was some expert bla bla is in favour of removing the track.
I answered "i will make up my own mind thank you very much"

the next day had another manager offering me 250k to vote in favour of removing it :D

yup ill take the cash lol

Qualifying is an utter mess. You've got an 8min window, where in most cases you can only do 1 flying lap, 20 cars are out there slowing you down, you've got ZERO control over the driver to have them create space for themselves, all you've got is this idiotic slider telling them to push or slow, and 2 temp dials (brakes & tyres) with a tiny green window and about 70% red and if you have them try and the dial moves so drastically its nearly impossible to get 1 of them happy - 2 is a damn impossibility!

Meanwhile the tyre & fuel tinkering is disabled, your driver is on blue-blue with flashing hazard lights, and everyone else is on blue-yellow, meaning they catch and pass you, so the only way to be first across the line is to intentionally cook the tyres, 100% flat-out. You try and get the brakes & tyres dialled in and you're swamped by cars so you're guaranteed to be doing the stop-start dance the whole lap, and even if you manage to beat everyone to the line to start a lap, theres still people pouring out of the pitlane, refusing to move over and suddenly theres 4 of you fighting for corners.

You do a lap thats 4-5sec slower than practice with 98%+ setup, as do most of the field aside from the 2 stupidly quick pair in WMC, meanwhile you have the option to skip the whole mess and everyone is about 5sec faster, but you know given a session done similar to practice, you could do better, or at least feel like you had some sort of control over things.

Love the reversed championship grids while you've got them! I think i have ~6 votes banked, the first opportunity we get to bin qualifying its getting the full force of them and i'll force it through by myself!

I do wonder whether those target dials might be wider with a better chassis though, i was contemplating building the best chassis possible after throwing £35m at Factory T4, simply cos im getting killed by tyre wear in some races (finally a possible reason not to buy the cheapest!) but im not 100% convinced, i could just be opting for the wrong tyre as everyone else is using harder, and in T2 & 3 i could do that with ease.

Doesn't sound good. Hopefully by the time I get there, they've patched it :)

On the plus side, I installed it on my laptop and the save games are in the cloud... so all I need now is a laptop powerful enough to run it smoothly!

I've never ran a qualifying session and I've just started my sixth season. :p

I run the practice session quite often if I need to make sure we can get the most performance out of the car for the circuit.

Qualifying is an utterly brilliant... :D:o

Okay its not, but i did manage to grab an undeserved 1st & 2nd, 3rd being 5.1sec behind (2nd being 1.5 also) thanks to changing weather :D

I also got a new performance sponsor vacancy, and one is 7th+ for 600k with 1m fixed, not great but thats an achievable goal, but it also has GB 3.4x and that race is 5 races away. Its a 4 race sponsor, of course :D So i'd decided to take a punt, leave it 1 race, and the other 2 current sponsors is 3rd+ & 1st  so i just went with 3rd for this race cos i need to pick something. So got lucky there, and when i pick up the new sponsor at least it'll include the Guildford so i can try for that 3.4 multiplier.

Really wish we could reject offers, so if none are acceptable you might miss a race but you'll get some new ones next race, rather than those offers hanging around whether you want them or not.

RR is about to win the WDC in our first season in the predator team. That guy is brilliant. Helps that we have developed the car too. Next will be to develop a cheap chassis and upgrade the factory and then other buildings. I need to be able to build better parts. Gearbox is spec only next season, so should save some cash.

If you're still in the market for a designer, check out Karen Jones. I signed her the season before moving into T2/Asia because thats a spec engine series too, and her engine stat is a magnificent 2 :D gearbox was about 8 which isnt idea, but the other 4 were around 18, she's pretty cheap (148k on mine), and IMO has great part knowledge, particular the first 2 and last.

You can see i've selected the Avg part, that lets me build 2 from row2 (one as normal, one because its carried over from the perk), and ive ended up using that 'free' perk to do the same to unlock an extra item from the 3rd row. So instead of 1-1-1-x-x, ive effectively ended up with 0-1-2-x-x but ive also added 15 days to the build to achieve this, but sometimes theres just nothing you really want on a level. Like the first row in the image.
-10% red zone = its nice, wont make me faster.
+25 max & +15 acc + illegal = its illegal, i dont mind doing it when i know it'll be a 1-2 race part before im on good/great parts
+10% reliability = my crew can do that in 1 day thanks.

I also love the fact that after building this part i went on to do each risk+1 item from each row, and then negated the whole lot with her -3 risk legendary knowledge. I havent got any legendary unlocked via HQ, but she's letting me build something illegal and making it viable.

I've only just sacked her in favour of poaching Paddy Lock/Lowe from Not-Mercedes and their best mechanic :D I let her start building the illegal gearbox, sacked her, and got Paddy in charge for the rest as iirc he's 6x20 and decent knowledge too.

I've signed a new reserve driver, only 2 stars but has the potential to get to 4. How do I actually get him up there? Do I just have to throw him in to drive? If I put him out there for practice does that help?

Yeah, im pretty sure they need to be used in order to gain stats. If their feedback is reasonable then it could be worth chucking them into practice sessions, but your feedback bars for tyre & race performance boosts might suffer if they're too inferior.

I also found out that the stars fill up when they have temporary stats applied like +/-1 everything. My latest driver came with +1 everything and when that dropped so did about 1/5 of a star.

Quali sillyness continues, another 1-2 purely because of the way its handled.

Sent my drivers out ASAP, hadnt noticed it was going to be raining (didnt look) and they started their hot lap in wet conditions. I looked at the forecast and it was trailing off after 4min, so i brought the both straight in, sent them both straight out (didnt even put fresh tyres on) and they had half the track to themselves, and the AI didnt come out until it was too late to complete a timed lap. Crossed the line 5.6 and 2.4sec clear of 3rd, just because i saw dry conditions were coming.

There does seem to be a point later in the session where things arent as hectic, maybe thats when i should be looking to go out but as i dont even have the Lv1 weather center and its only an 8min session, i see about 90sec ahead so dry turning wet could hurt me.

No Not-Ferrari or Not-Mercedes in the top 7 either (8, 11, 19 & 20), might just be able to get one of my drivers off the line and hold the pack up with the other and snatch a podium, but 5th would be nice.

-- edit --
6th & 12... didnt want a stupid podium anyway :p

Also managed to put my foot in the door and demand spec rear wing next year. Won 9-4 with my 5 votes (I went a bit overkill, apparently) but that means theres 1 less part to play catch-up on which will help a lot.
