Cool. So that means Kimi off to Ferrari to replace Massa or will he stay at Lotus...
I can't see him going back to Ferrari after they choked the enjoyment of F1 out of him the first time.

Glad for Ricciardo if that's the case... Can't help but feel it's the 'safe' option though, would have liked to have seen some fireworks :p
Me too, but I'd guess Helmut doesn't want his Red Bull Juniors protege to have too much of a challenge. Can't be having him look bad now, can we?

I hope Ricciardo destroys him, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Surprised if Webber didn't have a word in Ricciardo's ear about the perils of being VETs team-mate, but it's no doubt an opportunity no driver on the grid would turn down.

Kimi would have been spectacular at RB, but it was always odd-on to be the less likely outcome.

Interesting tweet from Alonso:

@alo_official said:
The Warrior that uses the sword when is insulted can not be considered brave, brave man does not flinch, because he has higher goals..
So, his silence after Montezemolo's rant is because he's aiming at a seat in another team, hmmm?

Or he's been on holiday but now he's back and he's set on mounting a final push at the title.

The Red Bull seat is all but gone. Ricciardo's almost certainly got it. The only other team Alonso could go to would be Lotus, and by the sounds of it they're struggling to pay for what's at the team currently, let alone the best driver in the sport.

I thought the whole point of the chicane was because the surrounding buildings didn't allow sufficient run off for a normal corner

That's what I thought. Guessing they were looking for a way to re-configure the corner that would adhere to the FIA standards. Would like to see a picture of the new layout or the corner itself.

I hope they don't remove too many of the bumps. It's much of what makes Singapore what it is - a challenge. I hate all the billiard-smooth tracks and do like to see a good bump now and then.

It's to reduce speeds going over the historic Anderson bridge.

Raikkonen's manager has now confirmed that Kimi will not drive for Red Bull next year, so barring a huge shock, Red Bull have taken the easy way out and promoted Ricciardo. :(

Big risk for Riciardo. Red Bull are not shy about dropping drivers who under perform, and its going to be very easy to look very average against Vettel.

But its an epic opportunity for him. I hope he does well. Unfortunately he is in that group of 'friendly and likable' F1 drivers, which means he won't be fast :p

So Senna wasn't friendly or likeable? ;)

I'm pretty sure Red Bull would be quite happy having Vettel win the next x123456 titles for them anyway, they're obviously intent on not disrupting the harmony within the team having gone for the safer option of DR, or maybe I'm wrong and he might even be beating Seb in a couple of years.

This is what commentary said once. Maybe they needed extra planning permission to get it turned into a corner instead of a chicane.

Partly, yes, but I although thought there was a building in the way meaning they couldn't build the run off required for a normal 90 degree corner at the end of a stright of that length? The chicane moved the braking point a good 50 - 100m up the road and in doing so created its own run off by using artificial apexes.

Either they have relaxed the rules, or they are changing the corner in a more significant way than just removing the chicane curbs.

Not really, no.

Its a generalization (of recent F1 drivers), I know, but in the 'Nice Guys of F1' crowd (Button, Webber, Heikki, Chandock, Riciardo, etc) only Button has a WDC to his name. Meanwhile, the '****'s of F1' crowd is made up almost exclusively of Champions :p

I'd class Lewis as a nice and friendly guy and he's fast.
