Why do Mclaren have to say anything? If asked any questions they should just answer them with "meh".

All this " we might get a win by the end of the year / oh no we might get a podium now / oh no we won't get a podium .... argh it's just annoying. Next will be "we might not be able to finish ahead of Marussia in the WCC now".

I don't know why Mclaren are insisting on putting the fans through all this tediousness. The season is a massive calamity just let's not talk about it thanks.

It's such a shame. The same is happening to Robin Frijns. Won Renault junior categories, and WSR3.5, now in GP2 although missing races due to lack of funds but has still won a race in a mid-field team, and he's now lost his reserve driver status at Sauber.

I really feel for the young drivers in the sport at the moment. Unless you've got millions to spend, or a government backing you, talent doesn't matter.

On a separate topic:

Doubt it would ever be the one on the right as it's a mobile fag packet, corrupt, non-tax paying communications provider as the main sponsor or not.

Yeah, I heard about that. Other than Red Bull, and maybe Ferrari, there aren't really any programs that don't require sponsorship.

On the other hand, a rotary engined car, H-pattern shifter and tracks like Laguna Seca are probably an upgrade anyway :p

If its mean't to be a 50th celebration it has to be Orange, surely? The Marlboro colours, while a key livery for the team, have absolutely nothing to do with the origins of McLaren.

Orange is the teams root colour.

Summary: Good driver who's won numerous races and championships in the UK, can't move up due to lack of finances. Gets a Star Mazda test in the US, wants to race there because of the Road to Indy structure. Guess I'll see him in Indycar in a few years :)

Good luck to him, hope he goes on to do well. Must be a horrible situation when winning championships to suddenly hit a brick wall due to money.

Hopefully something will be done to sort it out although I can't see that happening the way things are at the moment money is just too damn important. The fact it's affecting the feeder series so much now is kind of making them seem pointless, as they are there to show off ability not backing.

I don't think you're allowed to drastically change the livery mid-season any longer, though you may be allowed if all of the teams agree to it?
True, although it's a moot point anyway, as there's pics of the cars in Monza now. McLaren have the usual livery, with a '50th Anniversary' laurel on the side of the car between the front wheel and the side pod.

McLaren have the Voda 4G livery. So what's faster the car or 4G :D

The problem is the drivers with $$$ raise the price of a seat for everyone else. GP2 is particularly bad for this as an F1 drive is highly valued (in terms of prestige and potential ROI for backers).

I haven't seen any real attempt at cost cutting in European formulas. Euro F3 died and was resurrected, likewise with the British formulae. Palmer Audi was replaced by F4 cars. There's no clear path up the ladder, unlike the Mazda Road to Indy which is clearly defined - Mazda funds USF2000 tests given to champions of lower categories like FFord and Skip Barber, then there are scholarships at all 3 levels to ensure the winners move upwards.
