Using which criteria? Championships won for Ferrari? :p I would have thought Ferrari would for for Hulkenberg. Doesn't anyone remember what happened last time Ferrari hired a German? :D
Maybe they just want a seat warmer until the other Germain is free to move :D

LOL, no in all seriousness performance per race, how they calculate that is up to them and Kimis agent :p

ps3ud0

I'd love Kimi to go to Ferrari and wipe the floor with Alonso. It'll be another repeat of 2007 :D

No one wiped the floor with him in 2007

That team was all in favour of Hamilton and to be fair Alonso played it all wrong in so many ways. If Hamilton went to Alonso's team it would be very different. As it will be with Kimi, Ferrari despite recent activities love Alonso. They seem to know exactly how good he actually is and to say he's the best driver they have ever had is quite something considering the recent driver they had with so much success. They know what they have.

Kimi in contrast wasn't even as popular in the team or with the fans as Massa. The sole reason they would consider employing Kimi is to take a few points out of Hamilton or Vettel if Alonso had the car to give him wins. Massa just never does that. Webber in contrast has the ability on enough occasions to take points from Alonso and Hamilton.

With a stronger team mate Alonso could well have managed a title in his Ferrari years.

It's an interesting choice for Ferrari, I think Button would be a far better and safer option and likely cheaper!

I was thinking about this, if Kimi goes to Ferrari, where would Massa go? McLaren, RBR, Ferrari and Mercedes are all full. The obvious choice is Sauber, but it looks likely they willrun Guitierez and Sirotkin next year due to funding issues, so its highly unlikely they are in a position to pay for Massa. If thats the case, Hulk is on the market and Lotus have already expressed interest in him, and they have Grosjean and Valsechi already on board there. Force India seem quite settled. Toro Rosso, by definition, should be running young Red Bull drivers, and loose their ties to Ferrari next year anyway. Which leaves Williams, who seem happy with their pay drivers, or Marussia or Caterham.

If Ferrari wan't to push one of their drivers into a team it will likely be Bianchi anyway. Could we see Massa retire from F1 if Kimi signs with Ferrari?

It would be a shame, I like the guy. And while he isn't in the top tier of drivers, he's much better than a lot of the other guys on the grid buying their way in.

Kimi to Ferrari, Hulk to Fauxtus, Massa to the job centre. Massa was never deserving of a Ferrari drive IMO.

Maybe he'll go test drive for Sauber? They'll need someone with any experience to help develop the car for the chequebook twins.

Force India for Massa? Williams? 3rd Ferrari driver in case they want to sack Kimi again after 6 months?

I suppose he could end up swapping with kimi.

While I agree that Massa is looking to be without a drive next year, I do not agree with the sentiment that he was never deserving of a Ferrari drive, after all, it was Massa who came second in the 2008 F1 championships, by a single point driving a Ferrari (6 race wins, compared to Kimi's 2, and Hamilton who won the championship, only getting 5).

The problem Massa has, is the injury he sustained in 2009, he's never really been the same driver since.

Agree. But where is Alonso going to go soon? McLaren? they need a top driver.

2014 is going to be fun, Ferrari with the strongest lineup. If they can design a car that is on par or better than the rest.. Alonso v Kimi is arguably the strongest lineup of drivers we've had in a while.

Retirement at the end of his Ferrari contract (2015 or 2016?).

He has said (although before the RBR rumours) that he will end his F1 career at Ferrari.

If Ferrari do get Kimi, and then don't go on to win the Constructors Championship in 2014, senior heads will roll, and rightly so. Even if the car isn't the best, those 2 should still outscore any other combination across the other top teams.

It still comes down to who builds the best car though skeeter. RBR have been producing a car where even a Webber can finish ahead of both Kimi and Alonso in recent years. Not to mention the fact that Merc have a pretty strong line up too with both Hamilton and Rosberg. With a big rule change, there's always a strong possibility of someone building a particularly good car too.

It's a great driver pairing, one of the best we've seen, but as usual I still think it's going to be 70% car and 30% driver line up that decides it.
