Could be wrong but isn't there a regulation that prevents F1 broadcasters investing in the sport (and visa versa)? Sure i remember reading about something in the past where News Corp attempted to get 'involved' but it would mean that they could bid for broadcasting.

Yeah exactly that. You can't own the commercial rights to something and then also own the network that is awarded the broadcasting rights. Competition rules prevent it.

There was something in the past where News Corp wanted to invest in a Premier League football club, but were blocked because Sky had the broadcast rights to the Premier League.

So now that Sky is broadcasting F1, it can no longer buy a share in the commercial rights.
 
FIA have announced there will be 2 DRS zones in Melbourne this year, after last years zone down the SF straight didn't really make much difference.

They haven't specified the location of the second, but I assume it'll be on the back straight, after the fast left/right chicane.
