Just reading this months F1 Racing and noticed that FP1 next year will be 2hrs long, so 2hrs for FP1, 1.5hrs for FP2 then 1hr for FP3.

Is that to give the teams a better understanding of engines etc? It surely can't be in lieu of testing as its back for 2014 isn't it?

Yeah 3 or 4 in season tests next year.

They get an extra set of tyres for that session, to encourage new driver development.

Bet its the same tyre allocation, but would help the backmarker teams make some real headway over a weekend.

hope Marussia find a paying replacement for Chilton, he clearly has no place in F1. Caterham still tbd

interesting point about FI who will be the hottest seat once lotus/mclaren are done and dusted.

I've seen worse pay drivers, some elsewhere on the current F1 grid. He's been close on times with the "tipped for greatness" Bianchi recently, and he's not doing a bad job.

lol I don't like that greasy chesseball but he is still better than Chilton. always thought Maldonado was an *ss and worse than Grosjean. Grosjean's accidents were poor/lack judgement, whereas Maldonado were deliberate. Grosjean seems to have matured whereas Madonado hasn't -> case and point Suzuka 2013

+1 to missing Kobayashi. Loved the overtakes he was pulling at Suzuka the other year, full on banzai lunges at the hairpin after the bridge/tunnel!

Kobayashi was entertaining but could never take his overtakes seriously. A bit like Perez where he would occasionally have a reasonably car the weekend and use it to just launch it up the inside and would be a 50/50 to whether he takes the other person out or not.

I don't like Maldonado, but Chilton isn't fit to tie his bootstraps.

He's out of the sport because teams would rather take a cheque than promote the audience possibilities in F1 to sponsors.

The lack of a Japanese manufacturer in the sport really hinders Japanese drivers.

I'd like to see him in a decent car. Always came across as a decent guy with good potential.

He should replace Perez at Mclaren IMO.
