that would be too many cars on the track, and pit lanes would be a shambles - Monaco for example

limit it to tracks that can support it.

And much more cost.

how is it much more cost?! you have less people at the track over the same time period then you would over having a 3-4 day test post race weekend, that would require a second test crew to come in and run due to the race teams needing to go home and have some down time. Burnout would be to much of an issue otherwise.

pennies compared to paying a whole second test team 4 days x number of test per year.

They will be employed anyway - I doubt any engineer is hired JUST for the test team...... (unless I misunderstood your quote)

The chasis are several million for most teams (given how much Jordan was saying for each piece......last season, or earlier this......in the recent BBC feature.

Seems Lotus are going to be running Grosjean and either Hulkenberg or Maldonado next season... I know who I would be choosing!

Good luck to him, he should do well in a decent car (if they can afford to devolop it that is , considering Kimi's issues with being paid in 2012 and 13 (could end up being a poisoned chalice)

Yea definitely, would be a real shame if he loses out to Maldonado's oil money (again!) but if they are that strapped for cash it's possible.

I'm not sure what else Hulkenberg can do to warrant a chance in a decent car.

hopefully Maldonado won't join Lotus. Also Maldonado may lose his funding if corruption allegations currently investigated in Venezuela turn out to be true

Yeah he deserves it much more. Here's hoping.

Maldonado is absolutely awful, a waste of time and space.

The only vehicle he should be driving is a Mario Kart.

Those allegations have been going on since the end of 2011 so I wouldn't hold your breath. I get the feeling every time they surface again some investigator gets a wheelbarrow of money magically appear at his front door.

Since there's more races next year, and an extra half hour on the FP1 session and extra FP1 tyres...

With only 5 new design, unproven reliability engines per driver.

Hmmmm.

Why not give Friday drivers an engine of their own along with tyres, so they don't put mileage on the race drivers engine.

Around a maximum of 165 hours of running on all 5 engines across all sessions, so that's 33 hours each... Give the Friday driver their own engine, reduces it to 24 hours of running per engine as an average. That's if the engine is running for every minute of each session and with 2 hours per race.

The current engines would only do 17.5 hours each over this season under the same conditions, and towards the end of the season they're pretty well worn out. So in theory, the new engines will have to last around twice as long as the current ones.

I'm kind of expecting some blow-ups next year after thinking about that. Good good. :D

Pastor Maldonado and his PDVSA backers are in the final stages of talks that will secure their exit from Williams, and clear the way for Felipe Massa's arrival.

Lotus... look out!
