Since there's more races next year, and an extra half hour on the FP1 session and extra FP1 tyres...
With only 5 new design, unproven reliability engines per driver.
Hmmmm.
Why not give Friday drivers an engine of their own along with tyres, so they don't put mileage on the race drivers engine.
Around a maximum of 165 hours of running on all 5 engines across all sessions, so that's 33 hours each... Give the Friday driver their own engine, reduces it to 24 hours of running per engine as an average. That's if the engine is running for every minute of each session and with 2 hours per race.
The current engines would only do 17.5 hours each over this season under the same conditions, and towards the end of the season they're pretty well worn out. So in theory, the new engines will have to last around twice as long as the current ones.
I'm kind of expecting some blow-ups next year after thinking about that. Good good.
