It'd be nice to see him go to Williams, sounds like Williams are getting an influx of more people which will hopefully be good for them (they need it to be!) Brawn would be a good man to have in charge. Would like to see them have a change in fortunes.

Pastor will be taking pdvsa off to Lotus with him. ;-)

Smedley started with the Williams touring car team and is looking to come back to the UK. His role at Williams will be a more senior one, working alongside Brawn, something different to what they did at Ferrari together. It's a bit of an odd one for Williams as they would have to restructure a bit to fit all these senior folk in.

If Pastor does go to Lotus with his money, as they need it, it means Massa would also have to bring the dosh in, I.e. Petrobras, which is a possibility.
Called it.

lol, well, read it really.

Not surprised Brawn left.
Having been in charge of his own team it's quite a step down having to report into Lauda and Wolff.

I do hope that Hamilton didn't join Mercedes because of Brawn...

Dont worry. Hamilton joined because he wanted to win and in all likelihood, Merc will be in a good position next year.

Merc are being very aggressive in their hiring policy, which indicates that they have ambitions. It is feasible that Merc F1 have been instructed that they must attain results, quick or else. This would explain the drastic increase in personnel.

Hamilton is in a very good team, who share his ambition.

Brawn is irrelevant now.

Replace 'Merc' with 'Toyota' and it could be 2003 all over again.

I have a good feeling about next year and Hammy :)

Though i do feel Mclaren really do need someone like Brawn, Williams even more so. He's a very smart guy so i guess he'll end up in a good position somewhere.

If Brawn were to join Mclaren ( not beyond the realms of possibility ) then he would be anything but "irrelevant" to Lewis Hamilton's plans of winning next year's WDC.

Factor in Honda's return and Mclaren would be even more imposing on the prospects of any of the other team's WCC and WDC chances.

Can't see Brawn going to Williams to rescue the outfit - he's getting on and doesn't need the stress. He's also openly stated that he wants to win Championships and Williams have slipped a long way down the grid.

WHAT? but you can see him going to rescue McLaren? it's a funny old world.

Mclaren have just poached Adrian Newey's Right hand man and head of aerodynamics at Red Bull [peter prodromou], and they've also taken another undisclosed aerodynamics member from RB, both due to join Mclaren in the imminent future.

They'll have Honda engines from 2015. Any business between Brawn and Honda is in the past and relations can move on.

Coupled with the best factory in the business, WDC driver, amazing history and heritage and no doubt a more than satisfactory pay check to boot...

Between fishing, Williams and Mclaren - I think I'd forget about the first two and be lured to the attractiveness of the third proposition.

I am not so sure Pastor will go to Lotus w/ PDVSA. Lotus have sponsorship from oil company Total already, while PDVSA is still under contract w/ Williams.

Also E. Boullier said Hulk was his first choice and that he would recommend that to Lotus board.

Alonso to McLaren
Hulk to Ferrari
Maldonado to Lotus

I'm calling it :D

Quoted so we can say he's wrong. :)

Hulk should go to Ferrari but I'm not sure he will. Lotus probably.
Maldonado will be leaving Williams, hopefully out of F1. Never been a fan and he's dangerous and doesn't learn from his mistakes.
Alonso's Ferrari contract is pretty watertight and I reckon he'll give them another season with the new Engines and the lack of blowing possible due to exhaust rules should mean RB have less of an advantage.
Perez deserves to go, but where will McLaren get a replacement? Alonso won't be no.2 at McLaren, or 'on equal footing' for that matter so i can't see it. Hulk? Possibly. Lord knows he deserves a chance in a 'top' team (Are McLaren a 'top team still? A discussion for another thread).

LOL, Alonso second to Button? Unless we have another season which plays into Jenson's hands (plenty of races with changeable conditions), he'd easily beat him over a season. Button's good, but Alonso is good and relentless.

Why the talk of Alonso leaving Ferrari? We've just visited this recently. He's going nowhere soon.

I do hope McLaren look towards Hulkenberg though. Where McLaren are next year I've no idea, but it'll be fun to see how comfortably he sits in a good team sat alongside a world champion. I'll go out on a limb and say that I'm willing to bet that McLaren will be ahead of Lotus though.

I'm trying to recall if Hulk had some sort of young driver deal/support from Mercedes back when he was racing F3/GP2?

Maybe I'm mistaken, or perhaps confusing him with another German driver.

That's what I'm saying. Wherever he goes he will expect and want to be No. 1. He wouldn't get that at McLaren.

If Alonso did go to Mclaren it would be as No1. I really do not think he's stupid enough to repeat old mistakes. Why do you think he wouldn't get that at Mclaren if they want him? It's not like they don't have history of No1 and No2.

Generally Mclaren drivers get equal footing and always have done. That was one of the problems they had with Alonso before. Alonso wanted clear no 1 status over Hamilton and McLaren refused.
