Gene Haas any relation to Carl Haas?

Carl Haas ran the last American F1 team which folded in 1986... before he went back to running IndyCars.

I would imagine, for marketing purposes, he'd try to get either Alex Rossi or Connor Daly. They both have GP2 experience; Rossi has definitely tested a car previously and I think Daly may have done a test last year. One experienced guy to give good feedback and provide consistent results, one young American to invest in for the future and also to make the fans happy back home?

There were rumours that Haas' entry might bring Ford along with them, although I don't know how credible said rumours are (possibly slightly better than the BMW rumours, but I'm not seeing much in it, personally).

Sounds about right. Now what drivers will\can he get in 2015?

Alonso (for sure)
???????

Alonso!? I'd be very surprised if anyone credible went near it. Given the timescales they're working to these guys will be doing well to be keeping pace with the marussias/caterhams. It's no slight on gene haas or his ability to fund/run a team but quite simply you cannot even run in the midfield in f1 without several years spent building up the people, infrastructure, processes, experience and most importantly data. It doesn't matter who you are or how much money you throw at it you cannot shortcut the learning curve.

They'll be nowhere for several seasons, if haas is serious about f1 and can keep getting the funding then they might come good one day but it's much more likely that they'll trundle around at the back for a few seasons then either shut down or get bought out by some other group who think they can afford F1

Haas has the cash, he could offer $20 mil a year for Alonso. I can't think of another top driver?
