Oreca Vipers are what got me into GT racing!

It's all to do with the sale of Proton. All the plans that Danyy Bahr had for Lotus (including all their new models, there F1 involvement, and all their other motorsport involvement) that were given the green light by Proton 2 years ago are now being reviewed by the new owners with absolutely no guarantee that all or any of the plans will he allowed to continue. Clearly that's a risk Genii are not willing to wait around for.

we all knew Danny Bahrs plans were a bit to far, and it seems the new owners think that too.
 
It does make the bullying tactics they used to get rid of the Team Lotus name a bit stupid.

I wonder how long they will continue to be called Lotus? Didn't they run under the Renault name for 2 years after Renault stopped having any involvement in the team?

I wonder if Lotus Cars will get so screwed for money that they sell the rights and tooling for the S1 Elise to Caterham? We can only hope :)
 
I think were looking at the start of a very public death of Group Lotus.

I'm actually quite sad about it, but on the other hand.....

Really don't know what to make of this whole group lotus situation. On the one hand I love everything about pre-bahar lotus and would love them to keep building cars like the elise and exige, but knowing how unlikely that is to continue I'm starting to think (admittedly rather selfishly) maybe it's time for lotus to go before their name gets dirtied any more.
