A press release about the settlement will be issued on Tuesday and Thomas added that “the $100m is for the state of Bavaria. Maybe they will try and build a circuit. I will propose this – that they should build a nice circuit.”
What a ******* joke.

So Bernies lawyer suggests they use the money to build a circuit, which would then need to pay Bernie to host an F1 race for a few years. I guess they'd need to pay, say... $100m for the contract?

The Sao Paulo track is getting a makeover

But they aren't actually changing the layout *phew*

Just rebuilding the pits to modernise them and make more room, resurfacing the track, and changing the pit entrance.

Unfortunately due to Brazilian culture it will cost twice as much and may be finished 2 days before next years race.... :(

That was announced last year sometime.

You should see the hive of activity for replacing, servicing and upgrading machines at work. It looks incredible, next week and a half is going to be manic.

Have they done the whole thing? Or have they just stuck a strip around the outside of the white line that the drivers can all use so we can have some good old "exceeding track limits" arguments and penalties?

Yep, the gavel is still there further back, so they are just adding a nice big random penalty generator...

The justification is that when the tyres are in contact with the ground, a car will slow down much quicker on tarmac than on gravel. A car can skip over gravel too.

The flip side however is that if the tyres aren't on the ground, the tarmac has little to no effect in slowing you down, while gravel would.

I do not get the run offs, it just lets drivers get away with more. Gravel traps can kill a car. Much better.

It seems it's got little to do with F1 and all about bikes as bikers tend to bounce through gravel, so unless you've got an enormous run off, which much of Monza doesn't, they're not feasible.
