IBM?

They are in need of sponsorship, but some good results will have got some people's attention I'm sure.

Maybe they can get a decent livery for the first time since BMW left?

What's up with that anyway? Sauber had no problem attracting the likes of Credit Suisse and Petronas when they were a midfield team before the BMW era...

Which was also the time when you had all the major car manufacturers throwing millions at the sport and budget grew to astronomical levels.

Everyone is far more cautious with there money now. Its difficult for everyone to get major sponsors on board.

Average budgets were higher, yes, but Peter Sauber is not known for splashing out a lot. His driver choices over the years are testament to that. Unfortunately his conservative spending also limited the team's success prior to BMW's involvement.

Not really, the top teams are spending as much as ever, as evidenced by RBR and Ferrari basically ignoring the RRA last year.

Just watching the GT1 series highlights. Its all got a bit lol in terms of cars. I knew that the GT1 series was adopting GT3 regulations, but I thought the cars would still be GT1 spec, or at least GT1 power, but no, they are just GT3 cars.

So now what we have is:

FIA GT1 Championship - a series of weekends with 2x 1 hour races for GT3 spec cars
FIA GT3 Championship - a series of weekends with 2x 1 hour races for GT3 spec cars, that supports the GT1 series

Lol. GT3 is now so popular that they have enough teams to be their own support series! It would be like Formula 1 having a support race of Formula 1 cars!

Not that I'm complaining. I love GT3, and it seems the manufacturers do too, the variety of cars is fantastic now, and only going to get bigger! Its a shame GT1 is pretty much dead now :(, I miss the epic Aston Martin vs. Corvette battles, but things have to move with the times.

it makes my cry tbh, Gt1 was my first every race which I attended with my Dad to get away from the bullys at school, and to find it 7 years later die... it hurts. I miss it, luckily enough at the autosport show a few months back, I was aloud to sit in my favorite car from 2006, the Aston Martin DBR9 which back then I wasn't aloud anywhere near but to finally have a little sit in it. imagine the speed it made was just incredible. to you guys i make this seem as if somebody has passed away but to me as a kid, this was a place to get away from the troubles, and now to see it go....... its heart breaking.

Just reading up on the GP2 tyre rules, and wondered if they could be adapted for F1? Obviously the alocations would need to change (GP2 has only 30 minutes of practice before its straight into qualifying), but the concept sounds like a good one.

The GP2 Series uses slick Pirelli tyres in four specifications (super soft, soft, medium and hard) which are predetermined by Pirelli in advance of the race weekend.
In a change of regulations in 2012, each driver has four sets of dry-weather tyres per weekend – three of “prime” specification and one of “option” specification (in Monaco, there will be two of “prime” specification and two of “option” provided per driver). Each driver will also be provided with three sets of wet-weather tyres.
As always, teams and drivers will have to keep one fresh set of prime for the Sunday Sprint Race. However, they will be able to choose between the remaining two sets of “prime” and the one set of “option” to use either during Free Practice, Qualifying and/or the Saturday Race. The compulsory pit-stop during Race One remains in which a minimum of two tyres must be changed. This pit stop may not be carried out until the driver has completed six laps.
