Awesome* competition from HRT!
So you can win a prize worth €5!!! And cost yourself hundreds in flights and hotels! Dumbasses.

And that's even assuming HRT even make it to the test in the first place. Seriously, how did these idiots get a slot on the grid? They would look amateurish in a hill climb, let alone F1.

*Not awesome in any way

But the €5 entry fee doesn't get you pitlane access and the chance to see the team work on the cars and use expanding foam to fill the holes from the rushed manufacturing does it? ;)

There are a few highlights on MotorsTV but nothing much else. I get confused Because the series was the Spa 24hrs last year instead of the le mans series.....which is very odd. In my mind iv got this, GT1 GT3 is FIA.....then you got ILMC.......then World Endurance Championship which is aparently the same series......and now the Blaincpain Endurance series has appeared............credit crunch??? doubt it. clearly there is a few bob floating around.

The Le Man's series has always been 6 hours of Spa. The only 24 hour ACO race is Le Man's, with all the others being 6 hours, with the exception of Sebring.

It's only going to get more confusing with the FIA and ACO working together now on things like the WEC.

But its not really a problem, as long as we get a shed load of endurance and GT racing i'll be happy. :).

I think the credit crunch can be seen to have had an effect with most people dropping down to GT3 from higher catagories, and also the lack of factory teams in favor of selling customer cars. But its created some epic grids of epic cars.

Shame that GT1 is pretty much dying though :(

Agreed^^

Im happy alongs there is plenty of racing.......The Blaincpain series I thought was FIA GT3.....but nope its an entirely diffrent hahaha!

So when did le mans series stop doing the 24hr of spa??

GT1 is already dead......it was dead when that silly long hair, slimy get rich quick idea, put his slimy claws on it.

If I was the boss of the FIA he would be gone.......and I would bring back the true GT cars we all know and love.

The trouble with GT1 is its just too expensive. The cars cost to much to be sold as customer cars to most teams, and its hard for any manufacturer to justify any factory teams for anything other than the big headline events like the Ring.

GT3 has the right balance of affordable cars and lots of teams and drivers. GT3 is just a specification though, there are numerous race series who use it including the Blancpain and the FIA series. Might see about going to see the British GT at some point this year too.

Le Mans Series has never done the 24hrs of Spa, from 2001 to 2009 it has always been a part of the FIA GT Championship up until 2010 when Le Rat killed it off for the failure that was FIA GT1 World Championship.

In 2010 it was a 1 off FIA GT2 European Cup event from SRO with GT2, GT3 and national GT cars
and last year it was a round of the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Prior to 2001 it was a Touring car event.

You should know all this Chris!

Bernies says that Bahrain is now a safe place, and the GP is not under threat. Great, right?

The US embassy disagreees:

The US State department says it is moving American Embassy employees to safer locations in Bahrain after ongoing political unrest elevated security worries in the strategic Gulf kingdom.

The statement issued late Monday says frequent clashes along a main highway in Manama have forced people to remain indoors and have disrupted travel. It says embassy staff and their families are being shifted to other neighborhoods to avoid the violence, which often includes tear gas and stun grenades from security forces.

It's time Bernie stepped aside, he's obviously now colour blind to anything except green.

great???? I think not.......its the most boring track out there. The amount of money they have they could had created an amazing track but instead its a half a job.....oop lets add some, awww what they called......ccccc.ccc......CORNERS! :/

Some better quality pictures, and more details. I'm rather keen to see them do well as I am fond of the hybrid endurance approach. The rear wing looks a bit odd, it looks like it should have another wing across the top that they have forgotten to put on, like GP2 cars when they race at Monza.

Interesting little comment from Wurz about leaving the garage on electric power. Do the ACO still have the regulation for Hybrid cars that they talked about a while back where they had to run the whole length of the pitlane at the speed limit on only electric power?

2012 tyres

I think it will. The only real problem was the white/silver ones before. The white is now brighter, and the silver is darker - almost to the point it probably won't even be visible when racing.

The best bit is that they're working on adding the type and age of tyre a car is running on to the on-screen graphics:

As well as hoping the different coloured tyres help fans, Pirelli is to continue efforts with Formula One Management to try and improve the amount of tyre information made available to television viewers.

For 2012, Pirelli is upping access for FOM to the race data feeds that engineers have at events – with the hope being that this, which includes information like how old a tyre is, can then be shown on TV.

"They [FOM] have been working to see how they can use the data and put it on the screen," said Hembery. "We have more meetings planned about it. Bernie [Ecclestone] has recognised it, and got his people working on it. Everything is in place to make it happen, but we need to talk to FOM to make sure it happens."
