No surprise considering the poor performances and how far behind his team mate he's been.

I'd be very surprised if anyone took him on next year.... Since he left RB it's felt like he's been treading water, and whilst he brings a big fan base and is obviously a fairly likeable guy, it's just not working for him.

Aston/Renault/McLaren have all tried to get him back to the top but have failed. Where does he go from here?

Big salary as well.

Aston?

Back to Renault(Alpine) might be the only place, but there's rumours regarding Schumacher...

Interesting that this has been announced without an announcement as to where he is going, that strongly suggests he has yet to secure a seat anywhere. I've always liked Dani Ric but his performances at McLaren have been complete potato - especially this year - and he simply doesn't justify the big bucks they're paying him.

Now, will he react to this like Pérez or Vettel?

Since Red Bull? No, his performances at Renault were pretty hot too. Spanking Hülkenberg by 52-37 then Ocon by 119-62.

I think if I was Otmar I'd take Ricciardo over Schumacher all else being equal, but you'd expect Ricciardo to want more than Schumacher so not sure how that'll end up...

Also be interesting at McLaren, Lando is pretty good but clearly it wasn't (just?) talent causing the gap to Ricciardo, assuming they get Piastri will he be able to cope with the cars weird nature or will he get completely outclassed?

Still reckon Haas will end up with Zhou. Schumacher->Alpine doesn't seem the worst idea, but isn't Mick still a Ferrari academy driver? Do they want him going outside their stable of drivers?

Probably he'll match Norris next year and completely outclass him the year after.

Oh gawd, sky will be going on about this for the rest of the year.

If you think that's going to be bad, just wait for Drive to Survive.

He looks pretty broken and/or shocked in his insta post.

I wonder if there will be a backlash from fans. From the little I know about Piastri (so far lol), I would have much preferred to see Danny every week no matter where he finishes. Sponsors can’t be happy, get rid of the biggest personality in the sport for an unknown. Yeah great

McLaren must be very confident that they have the claim to Piastri otherwise it's very brave/foolish to announce Ricciardo's leaving without being 100% sure that they have him.

That now means:
F1: Ricciardo/(Piastri)
FE: Rene Rast/Unknown
Indycar: Pato O'Ward/Alexander Rossi/(Alex Palou)

But they also have Felix Rosenqvist signed up to McLaren Racing as well. I'd assume if Palou's case against Chip Gannassi Racing means he was indeed free to sign elsewhere then Palou will be in the Indycar and Rosenqvist in FE.

He's cost the team a fair chunk of points this year. He's fine enough to be on the grid, but get someone better than him in the McLaren.
I couldn't understand fans of the team being against it.

For the salary Ricciardo is on, the performance has been completely laughable.

As he should. He went to McLaren as one of the highest rated drivers in F1, he leaves as a driver people are wondering whether deserves a spot on the grid. Monza aside, he's had a desperate couple of years and leaves with his reputation in shreds and his chances of ever getting a WDC having largely evaporated. No top team is going to pick him now.

Hopefully he can find a half decent seat and restore his reputation before leaving F1.

Fans and Sponsors like success. If Piastri is everything he's cracked up to be, he'll swiftly surpass Ricciardo's position while costing far less (at least for a few years).

Completely agree with this. Ricciardo has been absolutely found out since he left Red Bull.

If piastri ends up at mclaren (likely) and he's anything near the hype mclaren have pulled a blinder

They will have an incredible pair of drivers
They stole one from their biggest rival alpine
The driver they dump may go their rival

Sauber confirm their partnership with Alfa Romeo will end after 2023, as expected I guess with all the Audi rumours.
Wonder if we might see the Audi name on the grid before 2026, either that or a couple of years of Sauber I guess.

Listening to Craig Slater Sky Sports F1 there - apparently its been confirmed that Spa will stay on the calendar next year but agreement needed on a 1 or 2 year deal.
Also he was saying that its believed that Red Bull are possibly having thoughts about staying with Honda and not going into the Porsche partnership.... still expected to become part of the Porsche venture but interesting.
Funny for a team that struggled to have 1 engine supplier a few years back!
