In any other industry the company would have clauses in said contract to avoid this happening, and you wouldn't ignore the contract.
Hmm not really. Generic office job on a normal contract for any pleb? I don’t see it.
They were informed that he was leaving and continued to prefer Alonso.
I mean if that’s true then of course I agree Alpine dropped the ball and did not handle it well. I just think as a newbie coming in he was rather aggressive with his tweet and the whole thing has done him no favours to the casual observer. No point going round in circles (although I’m sure we will :p). Everyone can have their own opinion and that’s mine.

To the casual observer, I certainly agree. But I think after the details that have since come out that he was put in an impossible position by Alpine.

But, as you say no point going round in circles.

Been thinking about this since Piastri was confirmed at McLaren.

Longer term I suspect their interest in signing up another youngster (one who is tipped for the top) is probably also an admission that they won't hold onto Lando Norris if they don't massively improve.

In the next 2-3 years its likely that Mercedes will be looking for a replacement for Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari are likely to be looking for another top driver and even Red Bull will be looking for someone to replace Perez. You also have the extra cash and lure of Audi joining F1 with their likely Sauber takeover.

Norris will be top of the list possibly for all of those teams so McLaren don't want to be left holding nothing. Their best bet of holding onto him might be if the Red Bull - Porsche deal falls through and they end up just sharing the Audi developed engine, you would have to imagine that McLaren would be high up Porsche' list as a possible engine partner, especially given that Porsche don't seem to want to fully own a team.

Planet F1 reporting the Porsche - Redbull Deal is "dead" after the disagreement over control of the team: Red Bull-Porsche deal ‘dead’ as parties fight for control of the team

Reports that Porsche were annoyed that Audi steamed ahead at Spa and confirmed their involvement too.

If this is true then it probably makes sense for them just to re-connect with Honda although I know that they've had concerns about being treated as a "new" engine manufacturer if Red Bull Powertrains are developing and building the engine and Honda just buy the naming given they already support the current engine.

Penultimate Indycar race about to start on Sky Sports F1 with five drivers still in with a chance, although with some it’s very remote for some. Herta can’t win, like all three seasons in Indycar but they want to bring him to F1? Ridiculous.

He's not even close to being in contention either - 10th in the standings and 148 points behind.
Different if it was someone like Power, Newgarden, Dixon or Ericsson who is actually one of the top drivers.

Colton might be one in the future, but he isn't yet

Yeah, I don't really understand the level of interest in Herta from F1 teams. I know he's the youngest IndyCar race winner ever but nothing else about him seems to mark him out as something special.

Arguably IndyCar should be considered at least equal with F2 which would have given him the points he needed from the same results but it isn't so he doesn't. Should be end of, imo.

The perception is that there is a lack of depth in Indycar and while the winner gets enough points right away the points for lower positions drop dramatically.

With IndyCar being faster cars, driven in longer races, with more complex tactics against a more experienced field. I really can't see a justification for it securing fewer points than F2. It feels more like European bias than justified distinction.

Because the fia want to encourage their own series to be used as the main feeder and drive backing through this.

Passed a white Peroni Aston Martin truck with an F1 car silhouette on the side on Luxembourg plates this morning outside Brussels.
No pics but does anyone know what it could have been? All the AM F1 team trucks are green with UK plates.

Could it have just been a lorry carrying beer? Looked like an enclosed car transporter used to ferry racing cars..

It probably won't happen, but I'd love it if they came in partnership with McLaren. There's some history there before, Ron Dennis has gone so none of the toxicity that was there when they were with Honda, and Andreas Seidl was in charge when they won in LMP1.
