Haha no I mean they did go over the cost capUnless you’re daft enough to believe anything that comes out of Horner’s mouth
If Marko wasn't an issue last year then I don't see why he would suddenly be an issue this year, unless they're moving the goalposts
Oh I know, but before it came out Horner was insistent they hadn’t gone over and was getting rather threatening and accusatory towards other teams. The usual RB “why are we the victims wah wah” nonsenseHaha no I mean they did go over the cost cap
But is NOT on Red Bull's official submission as one of the top three earners (I think it's three, might be five) who's salaries are not included in the cost cap budget. Some teams have asked the FIA to clarify his position within the team and how he's being paid.The assessment being done now is the assessment of spending for last year not this year. Which I'm sure you know, but it's gonna getting confusing fast if we don't use the same terms
It's become an issue because, officially, he has been replaced in his role by Guillaume Rocqueli in last year, but - in practice - he attended every race in the Red Bull box, does media for the team, appears to have been involved in choosing drivers and, in fact, was the man to announce that Dani Ric was taking over the race seat from De Vries suggesting that he's still playing an active role in the team.
I was trying to explain it to my partner yesterday and am I right in that;But is NOT on Red Bull's official submission as one of the top three earners (I think it's three, might be five) who's salaries are not included in the cost cap budget. To be fair, I'm not sure why salaries need to be included in the budget cap? Shouldn't it focus more on money spent on development, R&D etc.?
Given the cost cap of.... £156m (I think, it got a rise due to inflation from £150m, although it might be $150m) If top earners and drivers salaries were incuded Red Bull's budget would be less than £100m. Verstappen is on something daft like £30m a season, you can be sure Horner is on close to that after he nearly left for Ferrari and Newey is likely on similar.I was trying to explain it to my partner yesterday and am I right in that;

- He's not documented as a top 3 earner
- Therefore should be included in the cost cap along with all other salaries
- Other teams believe he's not been included in the cost cap (as presumably by the way he acts he's a significant earner)
- (Maybe?) RB are saying he's not a full-time employee and shouldn't be included?
It would be quite nice if Marko had some hand in RB falling foul again, lol
Driver salaries and top 3 earners AFAIKYeah @MissChief I’m saying why aren’t ALL salaries exempt from the budget cap. It would be nuts to set a cap of £150m odd when some teams pay their top drivers £30-50m or whatever it is.
Are the drivers included in those top 3 exempt salaries? Or is it two drivers, plus top 3 earners in addition?

Was listening to the Beyond the Grid Podcast this morning, and Tom Clarkson was interviewing Otmar. Sounded like there was change afoot (talked about the change in upper management) but wasn't expecting him to go.Big news from Alpine Otmar Szafnauer sacked along with Sporting Director Alan Permane (who's been there forever)

Crofty mentioning that there's rumours Binotto is going to take over at Alpine, would be a decent replacement, thought it odd he supposedly rejected Audi to be honest
