Good video on the Renault/Alpine mess:

Nothing new or surprising there, but seeing it all spelt out does bring home what a rolling crisis the team has been of late.

Wonder if they'll stick with the sport or sell the team.

Really interesting. And by coincidence I very much agree with prost and at a simailr time too.
Alpine isn't a warm friendly or likeable team. It's. Cold and corporate. It's constantly meddled with and put down and micro managed by what appears (from my perspective) to be classic micro management from people too senior to understand what they are meddling with.

Watching the video and seeing the new upper management team structure of 3 people is ridiculous.

And this stupid "100 race plan" is just more corporate BS. Like buzz words you get in many companies now.

Are we believing this? Can’t figure out any real reason for this to be in a drivers contract?
Lots of job contracts contain performance related clauses. Just because you hate red bull doesn't mean you need to break out the tin foil for some kind of conspiracy.

Perez clearly agreed to this, so essentially he's only got himself to blame.

Why are you harping on about conspiracies if you think Perez agreed to it. Nothing to do with hating RB
Pérez wasn't in a strong negotiating position was he? We've seen Kimi near bankrupt Lotus by earning too much in performance bonuses, not surprising there are clauses going the other way.
I think it surprising that it’s linked to Verstappen’s performance. If it is, it kinda proved it’s a one-man team right?

And the way it’s written he could be within 125pts but sitting in 5th place if the results had been closer between other drivers this year. Surely a better way of writing it would be he needs to be in second place or better, or something.

It’s just odd, but hey RB are gonna RB I guess.

I see what you mean. I guess the only true benchmark is your teammate, after all you could say "must get 100 pts" but if the RB bring a turkey that could be next to impossible. However, setting it as a fixed number of points below Max seems odd: if RB were 3rd fastest car this year, Pérez would probably be closer in points to Max even if further away in performance.

But I guess you need to formalise it somehow, and pts behind is simplest.

Yeah. But it rather dictates the one driver system we all know RB have. If it’s true it should raise massive alarm bells for anyone tempted to go there *cough* Lando *cough*.

Tinfoil hat time, it might say “within 125pts of Verstappen” ie you can’t beat him by that much either ;)
