Seems they're struggling to sell out the tickets for the Las Vegas GP... some hotels cutting their rates by more than 50% in an attempt to get bookings:

I think Vegas has the most expensive F1 tickets, and it's been trickling down to the EU races too. Glad people aren't entertaining these ridiculous prices.

Sadly Formula One is slowly disappearing behind an ever increasing paywall which will continue until fans say enough is enough, but I guess there's sufficient demand for that to never happen.

The Vegas hotels instantly jacked up their prices 200-300% as soon as the Vegas GP was announced, so I have absolutely no sympathy. Even a 50% price cut is still well above where it was in 2022 for all but one, and that hotel was already 3x the cost of the others. The Americans are being absolutely gouged on prices for everything F1-related.

I read that the wrong way round and thought some of the 2022 prices were bad, 2023 is criminal!

Well at least there's one positive of the Las Vegas GP:

U2’s residency in Las Vegas has gone on a short hiatus as a result of Formula 1 rolling into town, with frontman Bono signing off in style.:cry::cry:

Apparently taxis/ubers can also add a legally mandated $15 surcharge during the F1 to account for European visitors not knowing how much to tip

They are so close to getting it

I thought taxis in Las Vegas all pretty much work for the mob anyway? That's what I heard when Uber was trying to get onto their turf...

Will be interesting if the Culinary and Bartenders Union strike goes ahead though.

35k workers for MGM, Caesars and Wynn could really make a bit of a mess of things for lots of people there for the race.

Hotels that will be affected by the strike:

MGM Resorts International: Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, New York-New York, and Park MGM.
Caesars Entertainment Corporation: Caesars Forum, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Horseshoe, Paris, Planet Hollywood, The Cromwell, and The Linq.
Wynn Resorts.

The temperatures for Las Vegas are looking very cold. Overnight temps as low as 4 or 5°C.
Yeah I think some people think Vegas being in the desert is always hot. It’s not hot in the winter months at all! I’ve been there in the autumn when it’s been really windy as well.

Being at night also seriously it could be the coldest GP they’ve ran in living memory. Who can get the tyres working will be very interesting.

Could Haas finally get a podium as the only team to constantly roast their tyres every race weekend? Probably have an announcement from pirelli insisting drivers do no more than 12 laps on a set of tyres so they can go back in the warmers.

That's not terribly useful as most of the big ones are n/a for 2023. Is that because they're sold out? If so, kinda makes it acceptable for others to gauge their prices upwards. But yeah.. 'murca's capitalism knows absolutely no bounds.

Trying to decide if I can be bothered to get up to watch it live. It'll be a spectacle for sure. I just fear something bad is going to happen, security will be an absolute nightmare... there's lots of crazies around there, then the drunks/weekenders/partyers all in a teeny tiny space.

At the time of the race, the forecast is for air temperatures between 19 and 17 degrees. And the urban heat island effect will push it higher than that. It's doesn't look to be crazy cold.
