Sauce? I presume that’s not Newey too I scanned the usual sites this morning and didn’t see anything about this.So it seems that RB's technical director is going to Ferrari. I wonder if that was known by Lewis before he signed.

The issue can be that even though a sum of a team can excel at the end of the day individuals can think they're good enough to go it alone then reality kicks in and they can quickly discover that without those other team members they aren't as good as they thought they were. It's on the BBC, but it literally says "without proof":
Although the fact that many people in F1 believe - without proof - that Red Bull's technical director Pierre Wache, effectively Newey's number two, is already on his way to Italy in the not-too-distant future may complicate matters.
It's mentioned in quite a few places, so maybe there's something to it, but it seems at the lower end of rumour for now.

Neither do I believe Lewis knew anything other than what was common knowledge across the whole paddock, which might have been nothing.
But surely anyone at that level will need to have gardening leave before they can join another team and this could be as long as year?
I was not referring to Newey.Latest on Horner from Sky: he was in for eight hours, no news, and no comment. Nothing to discuss here.
That can certainly happen but, while I don't doubt Newey's talent I also find it unlikely that there's no one else in the teams around the world equally as good. Whether that's Pierre, I don't know, but I'd be slightly surprised if he went to Ferrari since they seem to be strong on promoting from within.
Lewis is one of the most established drivers on the grid, and easily the most successful, I have no doubt that he has an extensive range of contacts that are capable of bringing him information. Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ferrari themselves shared information with him in order to entice him in. That might be unusual, but Lewis is an unusually valuable driver. And, yeah, I'd expect gardening leave too so I doubt Lewis would have been swayed if the information is true. He can't be expecting more than a few years in red.

No it's probably me then as I was referring to Pierre and must have missed the bit that stated he wasn't leaving.I'm not sure I understand then. I thought you were talking about Pierre leaving and discovering that he's not all that?
Post deleted, egg clearly on my faceJames Allen is a very good journalist and has a lot of inside knowledge of F1 - his blog is a very good read.
His problem is that when he tries to inject some excitement into his F1 commentary it comes accross as incredibly fake. "Lewis Hamilton......................... WINS!" for example.
I hope the last few years he's had off he's realised this and will change his style.
After commentating on 129 F1 races I doubt if he feels the need to change though...
I’d take him over Crofty - the man who has his own catchphrase on the wall in his own house. What brought that post back up @cuke2u? @GravyMonster posted that back in Jan 2012!
Crikey, I really don't know, too early in the morning I guess. Been a long weekend entertaining my granddaughter...What brought that post back up @cuke2u? @GravyMonster posted that back in Jan 2012!
I really don't see the Alonso appeal. I bet he's a right pain to work with and his former McLaren stint was nothing short of embarrassing from them but also him. He's trying so hard to spin a story to stay relevant. It's time he gave up his seat to a much needed rookie in my opinion.Interesting article with a somewhat misleading headline from Autosport regarding Alonso's belief that he will be able to carry on racing for many years to come based on how he is performing in medical tests.

All quiet on the Horner front, not even the media finding a crumb to turn into a nothing-burger. Soon see the teams at testing through, that's exciting.
