I can't be the only one thinking that the way a lot of people, especially Reddit, are reacting to DR departure as being way, way over the top.

Take the smiley and class-clown personality away and he has been underwhelming since McLaren. RB owe him nothing at all, he had a second (undeserved imo) chance and he didn't make an impression. He isn't the first and wont be the last driver to get dropped.
Yeah your spot on to be fair as much as i liked him, just the way RB didnt give the fans a proper warning and being a nice guy has never really meant the drivers keep their seats :o

Completely 100% agree. You can say the same about any 'meme' driver with a following. Kubica, Kimi, the last few years of Vettel etc.

As said above Danny Ric got a 2nd chance of an F1 career which is more than a lot of very good drivers do. He also basically had an open goal of a drive at the very top team in F1 if he could have just stood out 1 iota at VCARB and he couldn't even manage that.

Nice guy but his days as F1 driver were and still are done.

Social media reactions are always filtered to be over-the-top.

I have no problem with him being dropped, but I do think this has been handled badly. We now know that Lawson knew about this two weeks ago, so why not announce it before the Singapore GP so that Daniel can sign off properly in his last race, instead of an awful situation where everyone is acting like it is his last race but he can't say one way or the other?

His career has ended poorly, but the success he has had in the past and the profile and following he has developed deserved better. It's not Williams crapping on Hill level, but it's not the end he deserved.
He left Red Bull by his own accord and like Junglist mentioned above, has done absolutely nothing to warrant his place in Formula 1 since (especially with the battering that LN gave him barring Monza).

This is the supposed pinnacle of motorsport and performance/results are king from Red Bull's point of view he should thank himself lucky he was given the chance in the first place - they owe him nothing.

That's not true, DR was seriously impressive at Renault - crushing Hülkenberg and Ocon amidst a host of impressive results in a bog ordinary car - it was only at McLaren that it went to garbage. Not that any of that matters, basic not-being-an-knob behaviour should be expected regardless of whether he's performed impressively or not. It's fair enough to drop him, but there's no reason to have done it in such a careless fashion.

bar retiring from the sport has any team done a decent farewell to there drivers? its harsh on DR for sure and his fans but its not exactly expected for a team to be all roses once they have decided to part ways. RB have always been brutal in there ways so it cant come to unsurprising how it has ended for any driver part of that team, not that it does there marketing team any favors!

As expected Alpine/Renault confirm they won't be building their own engine for 2026 with the Viry-Chatillon facility being turned into a "centre of excellence".

Feels like the end of an era; I know Renault "left" for a while but were kind of still there in the Mechachrome/Supertec days until Renault came back fully; still maybe they can focus on getting the car better and with (likely) a Mercedes Benz engine they could be decent hopefully.

Good to see Danny ric going, think he's long over due and done himself a disservice by sticking around and being kicked out rather than leaving/retiring himself. However it's a shame it's been done the way it has, probably would have been best to finish the season.

Just need bottas and Perez to go now as imo they've far out stayed their welcome, there is plenty of new drivers waiting to make the jump that should get a chance.

Both Perez and bottas have been in top teams at the top of their game and they failed to capitalise on the opportunity put in front of them. They're now just hanging on, for what? They're never going to get another chance at the championship and they've proven themselves not good enough to be champions.

Massive shame this, I'm surprised Renault are still interested in staying in F1 tbh, I'd thought they be wanting to get out (though maybe they just don't like the Americans more than they don't like heomariging money).

Renault have badly managed the team since they took over, their lack of vision and the Renault board meddling it's what's held them back.

I can see a very similar thing happening with Audi.

Maybe get the merc engines in, (try and) have an improved season to inflate the value of the team, then sell it.

Maybe, I feel sorry for the staff really, the directors and higher management won't look at the true root cause if the team, they will keep shifting the blame away from themselves.

The number of team principles and leadership changes and direction changes that have occurred in such a short space of time is what's held the team back. Renault have been a poop show and that's what has predominantly held them back, yeah maybe the engine is down on power, but other teams have had success with the power unit in the past, it's their attitude that has lost them the customer engines.

The boards fear of little success is exactly what has made them be unsuccessful.

But they won't be told.
