Mountain Biking

Farewell, ye olde Bigge Bike Threade.

Anyhow, I have a problem. I need to teach the wife how to ride berms...

Anyone got any really good suggestions? Useful tips, vidoes, how-to's etc graciously received. Biggest problem she has is actually leaning the bike when in/on a berm. I can't figure out *why* this is as it obviously feels better to lean with a berm than to fight it, but who knows? :D

We may be heading somewhere this weekend to just do a single berm over and over, trying to get a bit more lean each time until maybe it suddenly 'clicks'.

Not that I'm any sort of great rider but I found looking at where I wanted to be helped with the big stuff in France.

I ride behind my misses shouting the basics like left/right pedal up depending which we the corner goes and faster or slower :D;)

tell her to watch and take notes..

:D

Matt, tell her berms are there to make you pick up speed, not to go slower....it's surprising how many people don't know that. Also, in berms...it's best to keep your pedals level.

Forest of Dean on Saturday :D Please let it be dry.

Bird Aeris arrives on 11 April. The 6 month wait had better be worth it.

Nice, I did look at the because I saw the £850 price on a review. This one - http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/c...in-bike/product/review-bird-aeris-1-15-48874/

When I actually looked at buying one - http://shop.birdmtb.com/ its £2500 (aeris 1) You can't even select the pikes either which the review details

I've pulled the trigger on the On-one 456 evo carbon with pikes

The frame is £850. The Aeris.1 does include a Pike RCT3 150mm. Are you sure you weren't looking at the shocks? (Aeris specs)

Yes, it was the review that makes out like its £850 for the whole bike, not just the frame!

Looking at the Aeris 1 on shop I selected the frame and then didnt have options to add pikes... not that it matters, my budget was around £1000 and just ordered a bike.

I did look at the Bird Zero 3 at £995 but with the pikes and £50 it would be £1300.

Decided to go On-one 456 carbon X9 with pikes, pedals (shimano xt m785) and shoes for £1140. Oh, Bell Super takes it to £1200

What did you go for? I fancy one, but I can't get the Capra out my head - the value is outstanding.

Also not found much I can't throw the HT at, going to put the forks to 150mm this weekend too.

What did you go for?

Lime green Aeris.RS

They released photos of the frame colours today:

I demo'd two Aeris last year, of which admittedly, neither were the RS. However one had the shock I'm getting, and everything about the RS is better on paper than either of those two bikes.

Really looking forward to 1x11 the most because I'm not loving the 2x10 on my Zero.1. If I keep it, I'll convert it to 1x10.

Anyone tried the Maxxis Shorty? I decided to put one on the rear of my Aeris. Hadn't even heard about it until Tuesday this week.

I'd do everything to avoid 1x11, the cassette price alone puts me off. But I used a 2x10 the other day on a zesty and it was horrid, couldn't go back to having a front mech.

Buy a Capra! :p :D

Go on, you know you want to. Sod the cassette price, you don't put one of them on every month!

You won't be disappointed, they're a flying machine. Absolutely love mine.

It's slowly getting to the top of my list, I can't find much better for the money. It won't be till next year anyway, till I find out how the riding in Cyprus is :)

What did you go for?

Dig the Capra a lot, but personally rate the Canyon higher... not that I've ridden the Canyon mind!

The thing I didn't like about the Capra, is that the Medium's too small (personal preference of course), but trying out a large, the seat tube is too long for me at 177CM with short legs.

That, or the Commencal being another no brainer. Think you can get the full build for just a pip over 2k!!!
Great time to be in the market for bikes :)
