Mountain Biking

A few things - you are running tubeless.... right? (if not, punch yourself in the balls)
If that's still the case running tubeless, then I'd suggest either investing in Schwalbe Super gravity casing tyres, or wait for the upcoming Maxxis double down casing.

The Specilaized Grid casing Butcher is a fair bit sturdier in the sidewall than those tyres you're running, but not quite as much as the SG. There are other options too, like Onza's Ibex ... but I've forgotten which casing is the one to go for!

Continental have brought out the apex carcass, which is also very sturdy, though I've not used this myself... a mate swears by it.

Yes on the front i've had no issues, on the rear i've been running it on and off, twice i've had the tyre effectively blow off the rim under hard cornering, with tubeless, inbetween i've been running tubes but everytime i stick the tubes in i get flats, I wonder if its just the tyre rim combo, think SG might be the way to go, also plan a wheelset change in the near future when i get round to selling my DSLR that i just dont use, may have better luck with tubeless with a better tubeless specific rim, i'm running a stans kit at the moment on the standard wheelset, I'm guessing a loose fit on the rim is the reason for the tyre blowing off.
Just frustrating thats all.

I'm so tempted to try a Rock razor on the rear, but its a lot of cash if i find its just too loose for my liking.

Presumably you mean the DH stuff at FOD and not the blue & red trails? I like the trails there, but they're not as good/interesting as the stuff you find at Afan.

I don't even know what my bike looks like anymore :( Won't be able to ride it for many more weeks due to travelling *sigh*

Yea, well the descents I guess, but mostly the off-camber loose stuff in between it all. The standard blue / red trail is pretty pants ... but their "Enduro " race lines are ace.

What's the inner diameter of your rim? Going to 30mm ID has been somewhat of a revelation to me. Tyres don't do that corner rolling over thing you get, with narrower rims.

Outside Width: 27mm
Inner bead width: 22.3mm so yeah pretty narrow.

What rims you running?

I got the Easton Arc rims now on DT240 hubs.

Ran the new Specialized Roval Fattie, which is what convinced me the 30mmID is a good thing, but sold them quickly before I damaged them (a mate of mine that also had a pair, completely destroyed them, and he's super light on wheels!)

cool cheers, Will have a look into them.

Doing my checklist for Cannock this Friday:

Helmet goggles pads
Charged phone
Spare tube
Tube patches
Tyre levers
Multitool
Bike lock
Change of clothes
Food + drink
Cash for parking

Am I missing anything obvious?

The bikes are right there in eyesight, but if it makes you feel better ... might as well, you're bringing nearly everything you own as it is :p

In my trail pack i normally got a tube, pump, allen keys 2mm-6mm, multi tool (crank bros 19 i think), chain splitter, spare chain pins, spare split link, zip ties, tape, plies and a puncture repair kit. I bet it weighs around 5kg! Never had to use any of it in 4-5 year while out on a trail though i've helped 3-4 peeps with it.

I think im gonna give cannock a blast sunday, see where my fitness is at. In my "hay-day" i could do follow the dog and monkey without a break in around 1hr 30 mins.
