Mountain Biking

GoPro footage?

Of me smashing my helmet? No thankfully. If there had been one on my helmet I don't think it would be working anymore. It was quite a simple accident anyway, I simply didn't clear a ditch that I should have easily, I got thrown off and headbutted the floor :D It had me laid up with a bad neck and shoulder for a week but thankfully escaped with no concussion.

Reviews seem good but I've never known anyone personally whose got one. It's certainly a pretty combo on that bike.
The comparative rarity of them means I'd want to have a good idea how they are for spares availability, reliability and servicing. Have you looked on MTBR.com? Maybe they've got a user thread for 'em.

I'm tempted by a Boardman Pro 29er. With cashback it's about £780 right now.

What do you guys think? Seems about the best hard tail for the money. It's been a few years since I rode but I've got the urge again.

I'd be tempted to go with an older 2nd hand bike.

I know I've had a bargain in the past....

Or a more trail friendly HT for a little more. http://shop.birdmtb.com/zero-tr/zero-tr3.html

I'm still struggling on bigger drops and jumps, ive been practising a lot on smaller ones lately to get comfortable but every time i get to something slightly bigger with more speed i crap myself and squash it :( Different types of jumps/drops get me to. Literally i smash a 2 foot drop on my fav trail all the time but pull up to something else similar and i freeze! I tried a different 2-3 foot drop not long ago, there was less speed into it and a slopey landing compared to a usual flat one, thought id nailed it but landed to front wheel down first and over the bars slow mo style! haha

I know its all in my head but its a nightmare to get out of that mindset. I guess just keep practising on the smaller ones until it comes? but then if i dont try other stuff it will never push me out of my comfort zone! gah! :D

I don't mind most drops, but when it comes to jumps I don't like anything bigger than a small jump - not one bit - I especially don't like jumps over gaps, trees, rocks etc - freaks me out.

If you feel you're close to cracking the but then keep pushing, but don't go breaking a leg just to say "I did it".

Well I went crazy when drunk last night and ordered one of them Boardman 29er Pro bikes. Very nice bike indeed.

HOWEVER.

Classic Halfords style incompetence. Got told it was available to collect today in my local. Turned out they tried to sell me the ex display one. Its seatpost was scratched to hell and the whole thing was rather dusty.

Either way I told them I want new and they called another store to get one sent over. Rather annoyed me. I've told them it better be immaculate next time because they wasted my time.

The joys of dealing with Halfords eh. At the price its a good buy. £780 after cashback. Went for interest free finance at £60 a month so not bad.

Douchebags.

Well that's good, as we all know the danger is the accepted risk. My mate has had the same helmet when he cracked it off a rock at Cwmcarn, his was dripping with blood though. He broke both elbows too, just to do a proper job.

You must have been on the tenants super/special brew for sure! A) To buy a 29er and to B) Buy it from Halfords!

Just make sure your drunk when riding it too so you dont realise how silly you look ;-).

Don't make me feel worse man haha. How come it's that bad? For the price it seems a well specced bike and all reviews seem positive. I couldn't see much better for £780.

Nothing wrong with the Boardman bikes, what do you plan on using it for Hedge?

On another note; groupset is in the country and DHL are holding it!!!!!!! WTF!!!!! "blah blah blah awaiting senders confirmation"....

It's gonna just be used for the occasional trail ride and then just recreational countryside ride outs. Nothing too aggressive I expect. I'm a bit older and less agile than when I had my old pitch pro.

I figured a well specced hard tail would be better than a low end fs.

To quote Rakim "It's been a long time" not posted on here in ages, I thought I post a pic of my ride I bought earlier this year and I took to USA for an awesome 3 weeks of riding.

To list a few of the trails I did

BarM, Mag7, 7Up,Whole Enchilada, Pipe Dream, Portel, Moore Fun, Slick Rock,Thunder Mountain, Windmill, Gunny Loop, monarch crest, Capt Ahab, HyaMasa, JEM, Guacamole, Gooseberry Mesa, Klondike, Grand Mesa.

Lets see if Google let me post the pics it wont doh! try Photobucket that's better.
