Mountain Biking

:eek::D:D:D

******* ROUDY!!!:p

The edits being produced by british riders and film makers at the moment is just on another level.
Raw, dirty, unapologetic action!

Now, wheres my ****** bike!!!

Eat sleep rave repeat.

Did just that! Had a great day despite the lack of uplift so managed nearly 3000ft of climbing which was hard work. Worth it all for the downhill though! (Despite awful hand and calf pump)

Think we did:
Sixtapod
Willy Waver
Terry's belly
Vicious Valley
A470
Pork Belly
Insufficient funds

Good day :D

Didnt you book the uplift then? I dont think i could do the pedal up once!

We only decided to go last month and on a weekend you have to book about 2 months in advance!

Like begbie said, it's not too bad although starts very steep and did start to take it out of me towards the end of the day!

Will definitely be booking uplift for next time :)

You did well to do that many! I only managed 5 runs when I went to BPW.

The training for the London to Brighton 75 mile off-road event in September has started, and it hurts :(

Anyone doing the Glentress Seven this year? I've signed up with 2 workmates for a long weekend of riding :)
Also got BPW uplift day booked for April which will be good, just need to add some other rides like Afan I think!

I got BPW booked for 27th March and 15th May and FoD booked for 17th April. Looking at booking another FoD for June/July and maybe another BPW for August.

It will be the year of the uplift for me :-) . Gonna cost a fortune in tickets and fuel, I think it costs me around £80 for fuel and a ticket per session!

I'm getting fitter now and starting to think about the odd race here and there, would like to find a nice easy first race this Spring/Summer to dip my toes into it.

What's the difference between all the different race styles - what's the difference between a XC race and Enduro exactly?

Problem for me is living in Birmingham - every race is going to be like 100 miles away.

Xc will be people who think mankini's are the norm to wear in a bike race. The tighter your lycra the better. Plenty of chamois cream, get a friend to apply if you cant reach that well, i'm sure there will be plenty of volunteers come race day. Then you have the joy's of riding up hills for hours and hours. A hardtail with 29" wheels and probably 100mm fork travel would be your weapon of choice.

Enduro is a lot more downhill orientated. You do a series of stages during a day or more. Some tracks are basically full on downhill courses so a bike with 160mm travel front and rear is advised but not always necessary.

Do a youtube search of an enduro race and xc race, will help you out a lot!

That's a no to the XC then and a maybe to Enduro.

I think half the problem for me is the fear of being absolutely murdered and coming last/right at the back of the pack. It's difficult to know whether I'm up to a decent pace or not as I don't have any friends who MTB, I only ever ride on my own. My Strava times around Cannock Chase seem to put me in the top 20% of times, but that's not exactly scientific is it?

Maybe I should just avoid racing and keep it fun/non-serious.

Hmm.
