Mountain Biking

Who cares if you come last? if you enjoyed it then great, that's all that matters. See it not as a race, but as just a get together.

That's how I'm looking at the Enduro im doing in August :D

I would have no shame in comming in last. Least you entered and had fun, thats what its all about.

I think I were in the top 25% of strava for cannock chase at one point, I think I did the lot in just over 1hr 30min. But like you say, its hardly accurate as for every 1 person that uses strava there's probably over 100 that dont!

For the Ardrock, I said I was going to do some training for this but still haven's started :(

I keep going to uplifts and cba to do any uphill shenanigans. :D

Sunday or Saturday Knifey? Sunday here Nick, but will prob be there all weekend, can do it together, will need someone to pick up my limbs when the inevitable happens :D

Training for it? That'll start in July :D
Due to illness I've still not ridden the Aeris, she's still all shiny and ready to go in the garage :( Fingers crossed it's a good March!

:(

Was going to ask how you're getting on with the 1*11 too. I'm tempted now Shimano are releasing a 46-11 cassette.

I'll most likely get there on Saturday and stay till Monday. We could start together but I will most likely hold you back. As I said I don't like going uphill much and tend to just walk it.

I'm doing Sunday but going up on the Monday! Rhys enter the Welsh gravity enduros which are left they are so relaxed its amazing! Can re do the stages as much as you want as well!

I'm meant to be riding Saturday. Wonder if I could change it to Sunday and swap with someone... ('Ard Rock)

Not sure on Quantock but can anyone recommend single track or trail centre fun in Cornwall?

Two trail centers there. Cardinham woods and one accross the road which I can't remember the name.

Cardinham is a blue XC route, which is mostly just quite boring (though most people in the area will tell you it's the best trail center in the UK) it's OK for a quick blast round. There is a red section there too, which is pretty decent.

The one opposite needs to be avoided at the weekend, far too busy. It's probably less exciting than Cardinham and finishes at the bottom of a hill so it's a nice climb back to thee car.

I'd say to either go to grogley woods (if it's open), bishops woods, or do some of the coastal paths around the area (not technically allowed, but I never got moaned at).

TBH it's one of the main reasons I left Cornwall. I'd just head to Wales.

Appreciate the info Begbie :)

Got a week in Cornwall early April - taking bike down and will do a couple of half days here and there, but then got a week in Snowdonia in July - now that's the one I'm really looking forward to - will be out on the bike most days for that one.

I might give Malvern Hills or Long Mynd (Shropshire) a go next weekend subject to it not lashing it down, or snowing.

Golspie and Bishop are worth a trip, very much downhill rather than trail centre though. Quite often doing work in the woods though. But some nice stuff around there.

The Track might be worth a viisit too, which I never went to even though it was 2 minutes from work.

I'm planning a trip to Glentress/Innerwhatsit sometime in April/May. Will the midges be midging?

They bother me. I've had joy with jungle formula (but it's nasty and eats plastic/rubber), Avon skin so soft (but I think the only active ingredient in it is that it's wet, and the bitey things drown in it)
And Smidge.. .

One time I went to Newcastleton and didn't put anything on (because I'm a **** and left it in my car - we went in a different car)... and I got no less than 5 billion bites all over my arms, legs and everywhere. Well, maybe less than 5 billion but I looked like I had the measles.

"Man up" indeed. You obviously smell like wet bin, unlike me who smells of tasty man flesh.
