Mountain Biking

:( I has a sad.

My Capra frame is heading back to the Fatherland, hopefully for a replacement. Cracking around the BB shell area, some people's comments have suggested it's just cosmetic, but it looks deeper than that.

Bad time to have "MTB system maintenance". :(

Damn straight.

I'm about to raid the old bits, got a set of Rockshox Judy C's which sort of move, they might be shifted onto the Hardrock I use for commuting, after a full strip, re-grease and oil.

And hands off Malt Vinegar, you're not getting them! :p

Sold the boardman today, had a nice couple come from way down south making a 4 hour drive to pick it up!

Money in hand i made a couple of hefty orders today from superstar, chain reaction and jmtb. All i can do now is wait, i have a production privee oka in yellow and black coming, lots of fixtures etc from SS, and the rest i need from CRC.

Already have a set of sun ringle inferno 27 650b wheels and some 2015 fox float kashima 140mm forks. Cant wait to start building!

Starting from home, hitting 3 different ride spots, 39.5 miles, 6200ft of climbing with my wife today.

Edinburgh cycles...useless bunch of useless gits!

Bought two bikes from them in the past...first one was supplied the wrong size. Second one they didn't tighten the drop bars so i nearly went over the bars first time I went out. Anyways...lesson learned. Tighten and torqued everything myself from then on.

However last year had my brakes bled on the stumpjumper. Had them do it as I didn't have the kit or a clue how to. Injured my knee so never had any major rides on it. Just a few shorter ones with nothing downhill. Went out on it last week...pulled the rear brake, nothing. Brake fluid gushes out of the lever reservoir.

Far too long to take it back to them so think bugger it, I'll do it myself! Buy a new seal kit. Buy a bleed kit.

Open it up, seals are fine. Except the fact that somehow they've managed to put the bladder in upside down and that's why it's leaking...

Anyways bled it myself and it's working perfectly.

Raced east ridge enduro this weekend, absolute bog fest! Managed 9th out of 82 and 8th overall for the series. Happy with that!

I was up Descend today, set my alarm nice and early, detoured via Maccy D's for breakfast, then headed up, What an absolutely glorious day, Sun was blazing, just enough breeze to keep the edge off the heat, trails were running mega fast, what a contrast to my last visit, plowed them rock sections flat without a single puncture and the Hope V4's are feeling awesome, I really missed the feel of hope brakes.
Had to call it quits early afternoon though, as my dodgy ankle was playing up and my lower back still gets a bit achy after a couple hours riding.

Front brake failure on my bike Friday night, collided with a fence but no harm or damage done. LBS hoping to have the brakes fixed by Tuesday/Wednesday, but if it isn't then it's not too bad as the LBS will lend me a demo e-bike. I'm half hoping they can't fix it in time!

Very well done. Tempted to do the one next weekend. Though currently on holiday, and not touched a bike in about 6 weeks now along with copious alcohol it's not going to be fun. Though it's uplifts back to the top of the mountain :D

I've had juicys fail on me, it's terrifying. E-bike could be fun though!

Bike started struggling to downshift, sometimes it wouldnt move atall id have to hammer the shifter to get it to go. I just replaced the inner cable (dont have any outer left atm) and it seems better but its still hesitant... im assuming the tension isnt quite right or the outer needs changing to? some crap stuck in there? Upshifting is fine all the way up to the 42.

New bike (for me) delivered yesterday, 2013 Orange Five, wasn't quite happy with the state of the frame (was aware before I bought it).

So it's off to the powder coaters today.

Not decided on a colour yet, I really like pink, but I don't think I could live with the grief I would get.
