Mountain Biking

Get the Capra! :D *checks sig*

Yep, still love the thing, it's been an epic ride so far, and got the photos to prove it!

Also... I've added another +1 to the stable of bikes. And this one has big... big tyres...

My friends Jeffsey turned up this week... Very very nice piece of kit, super light! Going to give it a go tomorrow and see about ordering one

Well I bought a Capra,

Came to around £1800 delivered for this spec:

Rear Shock: RockShox Monarch Plus R
Forks: RockShox Yari RC 160mm
Brakes: SRAM DB5 with 200mm rotors
Crankset and Gears: SRAM 11sp GX 1x11
Wheelset: DT Swiss E1900 with Maxxis High Roller 2s
and a 150mm Reverb Dropper

The bird for a similar spec would be over £2300. (I did check)

Should be here next week.

Also with regards to them breaking? What specifically? I have spent all day reading and couldn't find any major issues at all. The dropper failing on one guys and a rear shock giving out on another.

i think its more to do with the frame cracking, but ive a few mates with them and had no problems so its one of those i guess!

awesome bikes imo :D

I've read of frames cracking but that's more the carbon ones right?

Outstanding spec for such a price!

I believe the yaris internals can be changed too, to match the higher spec stuff for not a lot of cash.

Saw some Capras at Sherwood pines yesterday. Think they had a demo day on or something. Gorgeous looking things.

While I'm here can anyone gimme some recommendations for going single chainring on front? I see it can be done on the cheap by just removing my mech and shifter, and adding a chain guide, but is there anything reasonably priced that makes a nice little upgrade?.

I'm clueless with bike parts really, I just know how to ride a bike and know I dont need more than one front ring right now :)

Do you currently have a clutch mech on the rear?

What cassette do you have on the back? Ideally you want a 36-11. If not either of those, shadow+mech, 36-11 xt cassette, and a narrow wide front ring on the front. Superstar currently have a 25% off so it's worth picking one up from them.

I run an expander on the rear cassette, but it's all relevant to fitness/terrain your climbing. Making my rear cassette 40-11.

Got a plus mech on it, should have a switch right?

Can't see what cassette. But as a NW front ring is about £15, and pretty simple to swap out. Chain line shouldn't be much of an issue with those cranks iirc.

I just got confused knowing how many teeth etc is needed. I should probably read a little guide online tbh :)

What do you use at the front just now?

Most people use a 32T. It's what I use with a 40T expander on the rear.

You can use rear T / front T to work out what you need roughly. So 36T/32T is 1.125. So you can work out what you have now to roughly make a guess. But I'd just go 32 and if its too much grab a 30 and chuck the 32 on when you get fitter.

Show me pics of orange crush!! :D

Here ya go

A shot from the Man Cave and one on the back of the Fiesta. I'll take some action shots tomorrow :D

Anyone recommend a better car rack? The one in the 2nd image is a bit ropey, wouldn't want to drive longer than 10/15 minutes with it on the back. Don't think my Fiesta can accommodate a roof one either.
