Mountain Biking

Nice to see my travel time is not unusual.
Some shots from today.

This first picture was taken at the bottom of a trail on that hillside, i say hillside because in person it is soo much steeper. None of the trails at Thrunton are signed so being my first time and with no one familiar to the place with me I just got stuck in, the first 20 foot visible at the top looked tame so i went for it, it was not! The trail followed the hill side to start with small switchbacks weaving but then decided to just straight line down the face. I made it a decent way down and while a struggle i think i did my self proud, about half way though it started to get very steep, very fast and quite technical and far beyond my abilities. With the wet and very rooty and rocky ground i was barely able to descend on foot but i did. I will definitely try again once my skills improve but until then ill leave the trails on that face alone.

Tamer trails in the morning fog.

The bike looked much the same. Yes the red blots are pedal strikes, while it is no bother at the moment like this it is only a matter of time before i get myself good and proper so I want some shoes more focused on the sport and better designed to hold on to the pedals.

:D please tell me you climbed all the way to the top of deadwood?:D:D:D how pointless is that climb?
even the fun looking skills loop at the bottom sucked ass apart from a few small jumps, majority of man made stuff was old slimy wood with no chicken wire, absolutely deadly when ridden!

Yeah... in the fog. 3.4 miles of climbing for about half a mile of slightly-bigger-rocks-than-usual fire road back down, followed by some really quite crappy singletrack stuff, which had been resurfaced. Badly.

Then did lonseome pines, which was awful surface climbing, then the aforementioned slimy wood (thankfully it hadn't rained)... then suddenly we were back at the car.

Eurgh.

Did a 20 mile couple of loops round Hamsterley today, and that was way better.

Can't see the photos, but no matter what you will always draw blood from your calves. Although I get a lot less than when I first started, it always happens at some point. :)

Rachels qualy time is unreal, is she ever going to be beaten? She is unstoppable!

wow very impressive, the turn down turns the whip in to more of a 2/3 whip but jeez still impressive how late it is.

His rhythm on the track is impressive.

Got someone looking to buy my Giant Trance 1 2015 from eBay. The guy has been a member for 13 years and has only got 10 feedback, nothing from this year and most seems to be books. The registered postcode is oxford uni so that would fit.

He seems to come across as normal from the brief questions / offer and it would be payment on collection. Am I overly paranoid?

I had some one with 3 feedback drive over 300 miles to buy a £400 boardman, ebay still has some honest people. Not many mind but some!

The whole day he was expected i had serious worries i was being trolled.

agreed - ebay can be a nightmare, I got £1150 for my bike via ebay. Was worried as the guy said he was "driving down with a couple of mates" to view the bike.

Anyway it turned out fine - he was a bit of a novice, his mates had been biking for years and just wanted to check the bike over for him. Only thing I would suggest is spend about £3 on a note checking pen to make sure the cash your given is fine!! That's what I did.

One on CRC the now for £230, plus the extra off currently.

Theres also one that looks exactly the same with a set of 100% goggles for the same price.

Hey guys,

hoping to pick your brains for a little bit of help/advice. It was my best mates birthday not too long ago and I want to book a day at Bike Park Wales with a full days bike hire on probably a Slash 7. We both ride hardtails currently so thought it would be a fun to ride a Full Sus for a day as I know my mate will really like it. We are fairly competent riders but being our first time will stick to the blues and maybe a couple of the reds depending how we get on.

Have any of you guys been to BPW and hired bikes before, if so what were your experiences? Is it worth doing? Any issues or recommendations you can make?

Thanks in advance for the help.
