Mountain Biking

Bike park wales is awesome if your new or old to riding. The blues are crazy fast and fun. Hiring a full suspension whip is a good idea, i personally wouldnt want to spend a day there on a hardtail!

Good call - their rentals are great and so is the park, you'll love it. Only one recommendation, book well in advance as soon as you can ;)

Thanks guys, definitely going to go for it now, just need to find a day my mate is actually free which may be a little tricky :P

With temperatures forecast to be about 36C over the weekend the current challenge is working out which trails above 10000ft will be clear of snow to head high and escape the heat :p

Know the feeling, touching 35c+ here. Have to head to the mountains on my day off just to escape. Lifes tough :)

Headed to hamsterly Thursday and had a awesome morning, didn't manage the full loop as we kind of started backwards and then headed back around the correct way, it worked out fine and managed 3 or 4 reds and even a couple of blacks that did not seem as hard as i was expecting. Managed to feel real comfortable on the jumps getting some descent air for what they was, started to try and push harder too, got to the point i started leaving my friend a fair bit so had to slow down a little.

The descend DH tracks look insane and i would love to give them a try in the future, All in the morning was great and weather held up nicely too.

Got someone looking to buy my Giant Trance 1 2015 from eBay. The guy has been a member for 13 years and has only got 10 feedback, nothing from this year and most seems to be books. The registered postcode is oxford uni so that would fit.

He seems to come across as normal from the brief questions / offer and it would be payment on collection. Am I overly paranoid?

Well quick update, the chap collected today and paid cash.

Just ordered a Jeffsy CF Comp 1 in XL.

Sold enduro for £1400 cos I just don't fancy doing BreckEpic on a plus 30lb bike. Getting a bit panicked about how hard it is going to be. BC bike race was totally brutal, those distances with altitude make me shudder.

Nice choice, my friend got the CF Pro and its a lovely machine!

Hey guys, popped into my local bike shop the other day to pick some stuff up and ask about servicing my hardtail. Is £70 a reasonable number for the whole lot including bleeding the brakes? Chain / cables and any other parts would be on top.

Seems alright for a full service - depends how thorough they are. They're pricing it based on everything being broken.

My SRAM Rail 40 rear free hub has died, again, this is on a 6 month old Whyte G-160 Works and it's going to be going back into the shop for the 5th time for warranty work. Anyone successfully argued for a replacement part that's not the on the bike from the factory?

Single track has a lot of chatter about these SRAM hubs munching themselves straight away so I persoanlly see it as not fit for purpose on a four grand bike - I'm Hope-ing for a free alternative as the idea the onus is on me to spen £300+ to fix the bike from the factory is unacceptable.

I'd expect a full strip down / degrease / regrease for that and come back looking spanking new (other than paint chips not being repaired).
Cables shouldn't be too much and a new chain about £10-15 depending what they need... but then if it needs a new chain you might be looking at a new cassette too, depending how worn it is.

Cool, just booked it in. Long wait for it but yeah they'll strip everything down and check for wear, build it back up, change the cables etc. I expect it probably will want a new chain and cassette on top, I've not been taking good care of it for the last while

60 mile ride to the top of a mountain pass for a snowball fight yesterday afternoon at 10600ft did the job while it was 36C at home :p

What's a good helmet? I do like my Parachute but does get rather warm(er) on climbs and stuff - going to Dalby on sat with some work goons and I don't really like taking it off unless it's a fire road.

ive got nothing bad to say about my ixs trail rs.

maybe the lack of a suitable surface to mount a gopro, but not a show stopper.

Wife likes her ixs trail rs, she had to claim under their crash replacement when the first one she had sacrificed itself for her.

I'm a fan of my Smith Forefront.
