Mountain Biking

milko - coming to Surrey Hills on Sunday?

Would love to be but my shoulder's still not up to it, and I don't wanna set myself further back with BPW and FoD trips coming up! The way my physio is going I don't know if I'll even get a warmup ride in before the trip, feels like a long way to go and not much time.

Awesome :) how you finding it thewanted?

Loving it! It's quite different to my Bird hardtail (not just because it's full sus) but rather because of the slacker head angle and 1x11 setup. Granny gear isn't as forgiving :) Rode it twice at Swinley last weekend and it was so easy to get airborne. That Reverb is just awesome too.

Very tempted, thanks! Just wondering if I'm up to your level of fitness :P

I've been riding short DH / mess about for the last few months. You have not a single thing to be worried about when it comes to fitness. Besides, we’re going to be a relatively big group from the looks of things, with a big variety of skill / fitness in the mix, so it will without a doubt be a slow paced one. Heck, one of my mates just came of an injury to his leg, and will most likely be pushing a fair bit. That, and my mate Ben will be with me – Ben pushes up pretty much all hills :p

Honestly, there's no sandbagging there - none of us in this group is particularly fond of going fast up / along the straight flats.

Big group also means that if you find me to be a d!ckbag and you despise my face, you don’t need to be stuck with me all day :D

ps: we'll be doing the other side (my sense of direction is awful), where Evian / Northern Monkey etc trails are

All these birds are making me want to buy a new bike. I really can't decide what I want! So hard to get a demo on most of them either!

Price isn't much of an issue, your right though! Swapping everything over wouldn't be a drama and them I could build the zero back up over time with new parts.

Probably best waiting till Cyprus now!

Seems like awfully good value for a frame.

If I could sell the SS2 that would be a serious contender and I could just bolt on more or less everything from the SS2 onto the Aeris...

The RT3 is a great little shock and I chose it over the CCDBinline for the reign - on another bike that decision may have been different.

the inline has issues with heavier riders and/or bikes with a slightly higher leverage ratio. On the Aeris I don;t see it being a concern, as the LR is very low for a bike of that travel.

If you really like fine tuning every aspect of your shock characteristics, the inline is a no brainer. If you like a set and forget shock that will perform no less, then the RT3 is a no brainer.

I know their team rider fairly well and spoke to him about this very topic a little while ago. He prefers the RT3 on that bike, as it's just easier to set up and performs no less. He came 4th in masters Cat at our local DH race on it last weekend too, so kinda speaks for itself tbh
