Mountain Biking

So after the fairly recent trip to Bike Park Wales, I'm kinda getting the itch to get out again.

Over the past few years I have seen someone set up an OcUK meet somewhere, Scotland being the last place I believe but nothing for this year...

So personally I would be looking to go at some point in June or early July, mid-week may be the best time to go as little availability at the weekends and it would be less busy.
I would potentially spend a day at the bike park followed by a day out on the trails somewhere.

Would there be any interest from the rest of you guys to do this, I plan on going anyway....?

Cheers

Milko and I are heading to BPW in a week or so's time (9th). Personally think BPW is ideal for a meetup to be honest as its a bit closer for most and there's a spread of riding there suited to all.

In fact, thewanted, I think we have a spare ticket for that day as Ian's on a stag do (tal Chinese looking guy on a Capra) - you in?

edit: Just seen your pic gettothechopper, stylish sideways action there!

If it is the 9th, I'm very interested! :D

Just texted him to ask i the ticket is still available.

....by the sounds of things, milko's going to fall to pieces anyway, so you might as well come and wait to take over his ticket :D

Too true! This physio is being very laborious and I am low on patience. Anyone know if there's a shoulder brace that will stop a arm falling out without stopping me from actually riding a bike? :)

Oh yeah, as far as OCUK meet action goes, I'm riding FoD uplift the next day (10th) as well... Albeit in three trips there I've done myself in twice, so in my current state I'm not exactly full of optimism for getting through that day either!

Can I be someone's friend on the 9th pretty pretty please?? :D I'll be pushing up though if I'm there.

I'll have to raid the garage! Still can't shift that SS2 :(

Could be tempted, no ticket either and would have to find accommodation first too.

Bird arrived today! BB just won't fit, tight as hell for some reason. I'm hoping it just needs faced. Back wheel has a loose spoke that won't tighten at all. Also some play in the headset that I can't seem to sort out.

Off to the lbs in the morning! Hoping he's free and he can sort it out for tomorrow.

The frame is huge, so huge my back brake doesn't fit! Going to need a new cable, kinda routed really badly atm :(

Properly sized you mean Begbie, exiting times!
The bikes are designed with a 35mm length stem in mind, and having used one, I must say they rock. Really gives you that feeling of being behind the front wheel (makes the steering feel more aggro and accurate)

Post lacks pictures Begbie :(

Edit: Plenty of room on the decking or grass in the garden for you to sleep :D

Yes, properly sized - the front tyre only half fits on the roof rack! I meant to order a 35mm stem the other day and totally forgot. Shall get that done tonight. You're totally right just sitting in it, it feels perfect. Can't wait to throw it about tomorrow.

I've slept in worse places! I think theres a travel lodge local to it, I shall look.

Haha, knew this rant was coming as soon as I saw the video last night:

Why should we care what happens in Canadia? Well Whistler is globally heralded as MTB mecca, and other Bikeparks follow suit. Already, you see the masses of wobblers moaning that their needs need to be pandered to – the lowest common denominator “doesn’t want to not be able to ride the black runs”. So instead of becoming a better rider, things are just made easier, and that’s just plain stupid.

Hopefully that’s being overly dramatic, but often you see squids moan on the Bikepark Wales Facebook posts, about not being able to do the new black runs / asking why people bitch about the ruts they dig into the chicken lines around drops gaps etc / moaning about the massive holes “ruining their day”.

ps: MOAR PICS BEGBIE

Yeah speaking as somebody who even when fit will be staying off the big stuff (I can do the black runs at BPW easily enough, but opt out of the gap jumps on them - at least for the moment), I don't get why there's so much pressure to dumb stuff down. I like that there's some big stuff around to look at and work towards, just make other trails that are more inclusive for wusses like me so I can build up, don't knock the other trails down to my level!

I am always surprised when people moan about BPW which if anything has needed more of the tough stuff adding, and to be fair does seem to be getting it with the recent additions. There's loads of easier trails for people on that hill. Sticking a good qualifier obstacle near the top of the harder ones is perfect, to me.

How's the shoulde rlooking, beefing up enough?

ps: Best POD ever?

Apparently, no Photoshop, just clever fancy cameramebops
