Mountain Biking

I've caved. One Dropper ordered :D

yay!

Just ordered 4 sets of kevlar pads from superstar, put in the code PKEV and saved £7.50 :-)

False economy, Superstar pads are dreadful... all the ones I've used in the past anyway. Hopefully they;re better now but I'll reserve judgement.

And apart from not having any power, this is what you've got to look forward to, pump up the volume and listen to the turkey :D

Granted this was 3 years ago, hopefully they've changed supplier since!

How did you get to Morzine? I was going to drive but that's 2 days wasted, so now looking at flying and sticking the bike in a box.

Which time? :D

Drove, Flew, Flew, Flew (to the wrong blinking country and had to emergency hire a car to dirve to morzine from there) and finally flew again
Only ever used superstar pads with no trouble for 4+ years. I see they are very hit and miss but been fine with me and 3 other riding buds.

Ah ok, see, I'm used to my brakes being good :p

What bike bag/box did you use to fly with, I take it you prefer to fly then (when you go to the correct place)

Unless you're willing to buy an EVOC bag and risk the weight, then a carboard box is by far the best.

You had turdy formula brakes by the sounds of that vid ;-)

In their defence, so did the Avids I had (though, that really isn;t a good defence argument :p )

Dam, I have Formula brakes with superstar pads....

Surprised you're able to stop :p

You sir are bound to fall off a cliff, maybe a mountain such as everest because of turdy formula brakes

I'm the small minority that actually gets on with avids. I know, shock horror avid brakes. Though i do prefer shimano.

Well I have found places that I can rent boxes from, I think they do the EVOC pro version, just wanted opinions on the best one.

I don't need brakes to stop, I just use tree stumps like at BPW, ask MrKnifey :)

I understand what your saying though, my avid brakes on the old bike would literally stop dead if you pulled the front brake, where as if I do that now they don't - but they still work and I kinda like it better

I was thinking about getting a bike bag for coming home with, but at £400 it seems rather steep when I presume a box is no issue for the airlines..

Trust me, if it's not an Evoc bag, or an Evoc copy, you're better off with a box.
Those older CRC / Dakine / wtfever ones are horrible to transport.

The bike's not "kept together" like the Evocs, meaning the bike in the bag contorts, and you have no grip on the blinking thing. I did that once (borrowed one) and nearly threw it away in Morzine.
