Mountain Biking

Awful photo, but it's the Canyon Strive:ON CFR's first outing tomorrow :)

Got some unexpected nice weather today so got out and got 40km in, coming from a hardtail it's a weird feeling with the trails where im used to getting bounced around now being a lot smoother, certainly feel it in the legs a lot more on climbs now though, maybe a shock with lockout in the future.

I assume you watched Rob Rides EMTB favourable review of this before making your purchase? It's well worth a watch...

Yeah I did :) I was completely sold on the 2023 Orbea Wild before the Strive:ON came out, but when I compared the bikes closely, they were incredibly similarly spec'd but the Canyon was something like £1300 cheaper so I couldn't justify it just for the better looks.

Rim magnet though not possible to derestrict, the only bosch you can derestrict is when it uses the magnet on the brake disc
Shame we don't get the USA speed limit.

BTW you want to get some kind of protection on the downtube looks like it's got nothing there.
helitape at the minimum
MY bike E-160s comes home on damp/wet days with a thick layer of crap stuck on the downtube but my back also has a rubber strip glued on it to protect it from getting scratched etc.

mines like

that rubber strip comes back home with a thick layer of mud and moss etc stuck to it and probably gets pelted with stones and gravel

You might wanna just full invisframe/ridewrap your bike anyway though since your bike seems to have a nice finish https://www.invisiframe.co.uk/ https://www.ridewrap.com/gb/en/

My bikes mattblack so I haven't bothered, I just colour any scratches with touch up paint for cars ^_^

BTW if you aren't already a member of EMTB it's a great resource for us EMTB owners
even has a huge strive on thread https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/2024-strive-on.33947/

Highlights of a ride over at Cannock Chase with my son yesterday. He rides a 2022 Canyon Neron Young Hero (dual sus) and I'm riding a 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Carbon. Video recorded on an Insta360 x3.

Just treated myself to a Specialized Rockhopper Elite. Not had a decent ish bike in years so looking forward to getting back into biking again. Starting off slow as my fitness is needing attention..

In Telford? Get yourself up the Wrekin if you haven't been, some of the best riding in England!

Most of it is pretty gnar, but there's some good chiller trails on 'little hill'.

Been a few times a few years back but is definitely on the list as it is pretty much just up the road from me….

Looking to get back into MTB after a long break, when my last got nicked and I ended up spending the insurance money elsewhere...

I don't really want to spend more than 500ish at mo, as I'll just be going on rides on my lunch break around field/wooded areas and simple trails. Swinley is also near me which I used to go to occasionally.

I was looking at this:

Vitus Nucleus 29 VRS

With a code I can get it for a smidge over £500. Are there any better options around this ballpark?

Cheers!

Received my Rockhopper Elite. Excellent service from tredz came built with a few useful accessories like a toolkit and pedal spanner. Have since removed the Rockshox sticker. Had a couple of rides and it’s really nice to ride the brakes are insanely good. Just need to set up the front forks air pressure for my weight when my Shock pump arrives.

Really happy with it so far…

fresh out the box pic..
