Mountain Mods U2-UFO or TJ-07?

When I built my friends PC he bought a mountainmods case from someone on here for an absolute bargain £200 w/ 5x 120mm Acoustifans, you can get a good deal if you look for them..

As a case it's very spacious and it was a joy to build with, I couldn't recommend it more, however you really do need more space than you would think.

you mean to store it ??
lol and i paid i think it was about £9.98 for each 120 sharktoon fans.
i have read nothing but praise about them, as long as they puch good air and dont sound like a traction engine like presnt ones, lol il be happy, yes this cas e is costing me a small fortune, but i cannot see me upgrading it for a many years, same for the new psu ariving on monday.

EDIT: main reason for the sharktoons, was the looks, sad to say but the white fins will contrast very nicely with the black case, just got the fan grills to buy now, yet more money, then of course i got the lights to add lol

i like the sharkoons, great fans (one of the best easily), and about as cheap as the Zalman F3s... IE you can get #2 for the price of a single Amber, Noctua, S-Flex, or Dustproof.

Now WHY OH WHY cant OCuk stock them? Best Etailer for comp parts in the UK, and they dont have 'em.

I agree, it was the first place i checked, and i was saddened that i had to look elsewhere, since i buy near on everything from ockuk, but then im surrprised they dont sell the mountian mods ufo cases iether lol

Google is your friend :D
already found the the fans, lol not many etailers stock them iether, that was the easy part, hard part is the grills, ther eis no descent ones in uk for 120mm, bar for the standard chrome grills, or the atomic ones.

the Mountain Mods case isnt too suprising, as they are V expensive, need importing, and apeal to a very limited market. Not the easiest thing to be guaranteed to make money on.

the Sharkoon Silent Eagles however are popular, competitively priced, and avaliable elsewhere in the UK, so cant be that hard to stock.

the fans are not in many etialers in the uk, there are a few one majour etialer tried to charge me £24 for postage and packaging for 6 fans, i dont think so lol

And the case, yes you are rite to a certian extent, if a uk retailer stocked it, and could ship it say in a week, you would be surpised how many it would sell, rather making money on volume. yes shops have to make money of course they do, but its how much they need to make v greed, and as most things the more peeps that stock an item, the cheaper it would become, and make it more popikar.

volume throughput is good though, as it means you can carry stock at lower risk.

Assume OCuk stockes the MM cases...... which should they stock? When you are paying that much, and there is a fair range, you are going to want the "right" one, not just any old MM case. Then you have to throw in accessories, no point stocking the case if a buyer has to buy accessories in from the USA anyway. Then you have to carry the stock, there is no guarantee you will sell any in a particular month, so how much stock can you afford to carry? Ordering in bulk will drop shipping prices & unit prices, but then yuo have lots of stuff sitting around not being sold quickly.

The only thing that would really work from OCuk's point of view is probably pre-ordering, and them importing and stocking based on existing orders, but that'll probably cost as much (if not more, OCuk have to make a profit) as importing yourself.

Some folk have mailed me asking about the plumbing of the dual loop in the UFO so rather than reply individually via mail and until I can be bothered logging a project, here are a few (blurry- my camera suxor:() pics that may help along with a brief explanation.

CPU loop: DD res -> DDC Ultra -> PA120.3 -> D-tek Fusion -> DD680i Chipset -> DD res

All tubing goes across the top of the motherboard tray with the DD res high enough so that it feeds the Ultra pump via top inlet. Having the Res higher than the pump helps in initially bleeding bleeding the system, ideally the res should be the highest point in the loop.

I mounted the PA with barbs up again coz this seemed the easiest way of bleeding (even though the PA has a bleed screw at the other end), it also gave the shorter route of tubing.

The pumps were mounted to the back fans using the hard drive mounts that are in turn attached to the rad. The ultra uses the top inlet whereas the pro uses the front. Another plus forr using the alphacool tops is the versatility when mounting ;). There is also very little vibration and they are silent when fully bled.

The above is the 'guts' shot of the watercooling loop, bit of a rats nest I know but until I get more sleeving there aint a lot I can do about it. The tubing was actuall pretty easy to route - easier than I expected tbh for 1/2.

The GPU loop goes like this: EK res ->DDC pro -> Black Ice GT stealth ->EK8800gtx ->EK res.

All the tubing for that goes from under the motherboard tray to the 'guts' side, keeps the cpu a little tidier.

Those that asked about loop order: it dosn't really matter aslong as the pump is after the res - just choose the shortest route possible (less tubing = less resriction).

Both loops are easily maintained via the reservoirs should there be any need to top up as each side of the case comes off...including the top!

Hope this helps.

Be sure to post some pics of the build up - I'd be interested in seeing how the horizon looks compared to the standard UFO. :)

I will be dont worry lol, that was one of the reasons why i had that one as apposed to what everyone else has, i had to be different lol.

I have just ordered my fan grills, i have had to order the plain grills for now, all grome, until i find better ones, i also ordered the lighting today as well. so now i have jsut got to sit back and wait for the parcels, saying that wife is gonna kill me when she realises the final cost of the ufo beast. but still i wont be upgrading it for a few years to come, wife says never lol, but we will see.

EDIT: First of many parcels has arived : The psu, all i can say is WOW its huge and wieghs a ton lol.
