US: Mr. Robot

Bit disappointed this season. I want some more tech/hacking/computer related bits.

Not him going nuts.

Him being nuts is exactly what the whole show has been about. The whole point is that for a lot of the first season what you're shown as the viewer is how Elliott is perceving it. He's an unreliable narrator.

I'm bored s2 is very poor up to now.
It's not poor, see above. I think you're expecting something that was never promised.

I was starting to get annoyed with where it was (or wasn't) going but the last couple of episodes have brought it right back to it's excellent best - I'm now really looking forward to the next episode and that wasn't the case after the first three.

I wasn't a fan of the sitcom part - basically they can do whatever they want now "because he's crazy". He's practically living in The Matrix. And I find Esmail's directing really annoying now. Every shot of someone talking has them on the side of the frame. It was interesting in the first season to show how unbalanced Elliot was, but now he does it literally every conversation.

This. I was about to give up on it but the last couple have been good.

It is annoying, the sitcom bit did feel forced. It has the feel of filler material at the moment, hopefully they go somewhere with it.

Why did it feel forced? All it was doing was using his madness to escape the beating he was taking. Once he regained his consciousness it was back to normal, except that he had to acknowledge the fact that he needed his other half (Mr Robot) in order to function fully.

It dragged on probably twice as long as it was interesting for. I do feel that Elliot's madness is an integral part of the story, but there are also times where I get the impression that it's being used to give the writers an easier time.

Let's put it this way - six episodes or half the season in already, it's quite clear that expanding runtime from 10 episodes of the first season to 12 episodes in season 2 was not only detrimental to flow of narration and content, but the show would probably benefit from shorter order of max 8 episodes. Elliot mad, world in chaos, Elliot mad, Gideon expires, Elliot mad, FBI lady finds Fun Society HQ, Elliot mad, Darlene pranks E Corp, Elliot gets owned by Darknet store owner, Darlene convinces Angela to participate in another FS attack, Elliot eventually mans up. What we watched so far would fit in max 3 eps and even then it would have a considerably high ratio of "Elliot still mad", "Angela's facial inexpression closeups still not interesting to watch" filler.

But that's a moot point, it is 12 episodes and there is not enough true content to fill it so it is what it is. Let's just hope that it leads somewhere more interesting than another schizo reveal - either that it's all in Edward Alderson's mind, not vice versa, or that Darlene doesn't exist and is just a figment of imagination of someone else from the same ward.

I think the first three episodes were entirely missable, so where we are now should really be three episodes in and as long as the rest of the season is as good as the last three episodes, I will still consider it a good season - but that is making a big assumption and they really need to keep the rest of the episodes focused on moving the story forward, I think we all get the picture by now, Elliot is quite insane.
I'm hoping that the scene where he embraced Mr Robot will finally cement the fact that Elliot needs both parts of himself and that he will stop denying it because if it didn't, then we are going to be in for a lot more of the same old same old and that will kill the show.

Season 2 may not be as consistently brilliant as season one and it doesn't have great viewing ratings but it does have huge critical support and that appears to be enough for USA because they have renewed it for season 3. :)
