MSI: *Offical* N460GTX Hawk 1GB OC Edition thread

did you get any gains over the GTX280?!

It looks pretty on par with all current games.

I want to upgrade but don't need to :D

wow my new hawk is awesome

its almost a blessing the old one died

this new one does 900 core OCCT stable with no errors (+80mv) with a max temp of 75c

i know a lot of people have their 460 at 900+ but a lot of them are not occt stable

i know occt is probably OT but still nice mine is stable with it :D
:D

good stuff, i should have mine waiting at home. I will try to reach 900 but i'm not holding my breath, i will be happy with 850 on the core. I hope my core is good! :(

Sam - did you do stright to 900 or did you do incraments? And if so how much was each step? Please take us through your overclocking

Kept it at stock and ran vantage and then furmark for 15 mins checking for that burning smell and looking out for the temps which was max of 61c at stock

After that i went straight to 850 no mV increase and then ran 1 run of Vantage then furmark again for 20mins no problems

After than went to 875 and +30 mV
ran vantage and looped it for 3 runs then ran furmark for 30mins which was fine

Upped it to 900 + 50mV
after it appeared stable in Vantage and Furmark i tried OCCT

After around 10mins of OCCT i had 3 errors small white dots that appeared then disappeared

so i increaed it to +60mV tried it again this time had 2 errors upped it to +70 and still had 2 errors to finally +80 no errors

:D

What's the temps under load at 900Mhz? i think i will be keeping this thread alive tonight as i will be posting my finding late tonight if mine have arrived.

Oh and for anyone that know the answer, it's replacing my 8800GTX, should i keep in the case for phyix?? Does it really make that much of a difference? do i need my sli bridge so they can talk to each other?

75c max after 15mins of OCCT but i had the fan set to manual 100% as i didnt want heat to factor in and it wont get nearly as hot during gaming

i left it on auto during furmark and 3d mark 900 +80mv it reached 71c @ around 77% fan

if i left it at auto during occt think the temps might have been around 2-3c higher at around 75-80% fan speed

will do another occt test tonight to test the memory oc with the core will leave the fan on auto for that

Hi... glad to help. Just got the tape measure out for you. The actual PCB comes in at approx. 225mm and yes the fan shroud does overhang this by approx. 15mm. Thus making the card at its longest point approx. 240mm.

Be warned though. That the 2 power connectors are at the end of the card, rather than on the edge/side. So this may/may not effect you.

And "yes" at the current price, the card is a steal.

PS. If you look at post no. 41 in this thread, you will see a picture of it fitted in my system. Just in case this helps.

Thats is very helpful , thanks ill do some measuring , i really hope it fits

I was interested in the 2GB GTX 460 GS but as the 6pin plugs are on top i dont think ill be able to close the lid on my Antec Fusion

Anyway thanks again , appreciate it ;)

Just a little teaser :D

Full report tonight!

Lets say for the next 5 people, anyone posting interesting unboxing, or videos in this thread will get a freebie pack from me (what's in it, nobody knows... you will have to wait and see). :D

Well, here is my entry! But how to make it interesting? We can compare it with my old 8800GTX, first the size of it,

RIMG0007.jpg

As you can see it is about an inch shorter. Now i wanted to give my HAWK a new home:

Looks snug!! So lets compare 3DMark Vantage scores. First the 8800GTX

And now the HAWK

Untitled2-1.jpg

So early indications is that the HAWK at stock is just over twice as fast as my old 8800GTX, and would be a shade faster then my old 8800GTX SLI before one of my cards blew, very happy with that, and if the HAWK dip below the £120 mark i will snap on up so i can run SLI again. whats interesting is that my CPU score shot up! Whats that about?

Tomorrow i will do a full rebuild of my PC and start to OC, wish me luck!!

Well the honeymoon period is over and i am thinking of returning or selling the card :(

while 900 core is nice the fans are noisy as hell and extremely annoying

even tho temps are good 69c max during gaming the fan still spins up to around 77-82%
and at idle the fan is at 54% and you can clearly hear it

maybe i can replace the fans with something else

:(
